Sparks flying...[open]

WHO: Kanji and open!
WHAT: Training times with the walking generator.
WHERE: Around the school campus
WHEN: Throughout the day
WARNING(S): Possible Kanji potty mouth? Nothing so far.

If there was one thing that the recent mission had taught Kanji - it was that he needed to get better at what he was doing. To be able to really use his abilities and strength to the fullest... he needed to work at it. Never mind anything else. Sure, his team training's helping: but he can't rely on that alone.
If he's to ever actually justify calling himself an X-Man, to justify taking up the codename - he's got to be strong to be able to help.

So, in the pursuit of his training, there's a couple of places that Kanji can be found at the moment:

In the gym, he can be found battering the hell out of punching bags, or working his way through the free weights: generally, if a bit of apparatus doesn't require external power, he's going to be found trying it out or using it. It's always been part of his routine, a way to help burn through a bit of excess charge, but now he knows how much he needs it he's working twice as hard. ... Might be working a bit too hard, even. (Whoo. He's seeing sparks and he doesn't think they're his usual sort.)

Similarly, he can be found outside, going for a run around the grounds - okay, so it's still really a bit cold for it, but a real man's not going to frown in the face of a bit of a chill, is he? Right? Right?

Rinka's out for her daily run herself when she spots her teammate. Deviating from her usual route, she comes up along side him with a cheerful bounce in her step.

"Hey Kanji!"

Despite the cold, she's just wearing thick leggings, a large sweater, and the scarf and gloves she got from Shindou for Christmas.

"Haven't seen you out here before. Do you usually run this time of day?"

Usually, she takes her run around the crack of dawn, but she accidentally slept in this morning after staying up a little late studying.

"Yeah, I run everyday." She reaches up to flick her fringe out of her face. It always started out pinned back, but by the end of her runs would be all over the place. "I usually run early in the morning, before breakfast. But if I miss that, I'll run after classes."

"Feel free to join me in the mornings," Rinka offers. "It's fun having someone to run with. Plus, it makes it a little easier to keep at it, when you have a partner. It was a little rough for me, when I first started running regularly. Even though I was determined to do it, having a friend run with me really helped."

"Right! Or to remind you that you don't get breakfast until you get back and the fastest way is to run."

Clearly, her friends knew how to motivate Rinka properly.

"So why the sudden interest in running?"

Although, considering the mission they were recently involved in, Rinka has a feeling she could probably guess.

Rinka nods, though it looks more like a head bob since she's bouncing a bit with each step. "That's why I came here, to this school," she says. "I wanted to take my training up a notch, especially with my power. But I think there are other areas I can work on, too."

"Well, fighting without my power, for one. Since I can't phase through another person, I need to improve my hand-to-hand, especially for fighting in close spaces." That'd probably been the main thing she'd noticed on the mission, that if they'd been up against humans instead of machines, she didn't have much experience with close quarters combat.

"Oh, that's okay, you can probably help me with something else," she replies cheerfully. "The individual who was training me back home was having me do blind sparring and I'm thinking that's another thing I need to work on, to help sharpen my senses."

Almost getting stuck in the dark corridor had been eye-opening.
