Having arrived at the school earlier in the week, Gilbert has kept stalwartly to his own room and the school library as much as possible while his course load's getting sorted out. Nor did any of the gossip on the network about Valentine's Day or auctioning off the student body and faculty catch his interest. Why would he care about any of that, when he's been abandoned among strangers?
But the music and the crowd of people dancing were something else entirely. They remind him of the parties he'd attend back in Paris, and even when he only peeks in the doorway he can feel the emotions of everyone around washing over his empathic senses, almost seeming to flow in time with the music. That's enough to get him away from the exit and out onto the dance-floor. He moves, graceful and uninhibited, in time with whatever song is on, and he won't think twice about falling into time with anyone who drifts close enough while he dances. If it's a slow dance, he may even hook a hand on their shoulder and try to prompt them to lead with just a smile.
None of it matters once the music stops, after all. And isn't that wonderful?]
