Not because of his parents or his car or anything like that, no. Elsa is jealous of his confidence. She arrived earlier that morning (the plane got in at 3 AM), and she has yet to even enter the place; she's just sitting there with a large suitcase full of frankly atrocious clothes, watching other students do the thing easily. As if that isn't enough, the... person in front of her changes their clothes in a flash, and the sheer amount of colour actually makes her cover her mouth in alarm. Who wears that in public?!
A few seconds later, she decides that following this person inside would be the best course of action; if everyone was distracted by them, she could just slide in unnoticed. Yes. The perfect plan.
