What: Investigating the Plague with Beast and Wolverine

Warnings: Descriptions of sickness.

 

As one bus heads to Central Park another is heading into District X carrying those who wanted to help Beast and Wolverine look into the illness that was spreading through the district and had also infected Nightcrawler. There were so many questions to answer, how far has it spread? How is it spreading? Where did it start? What are the symptoms thus far? Are they getting worse?

"You certainly look prepared. Do you believe we should be taking the same precautions?" she asked.

"I'd strongly recommend it," Carlyn responded. "We're dealing with a disease of as-yet unknown vector, so it's hard to guess the protections we need to use. If I really wanted to be safe, I'd be using Ebola-grade blockers, but those are expensive and more than a little scary."

"I do wish you had recommended this while we were in the school. The chances that anything we purchase here being contaminated would be rather high." She considered. "I do not suppose you brought sufficient quantities for all of us?"

Carlyn pulled out what she could - a basic mask and gloves. "Anything sold sealed-box from a properly-run pharmacy should be safe, assuming common disease vectors," she responded. "If nothing else, we could drive out to one of the rich-white-folks districts and hit a Walgreen's or something easily."

"Not if we might be carriers. We do not want to risk increasing the spread."

[diabhal_beag]

"A fair risk, true... But not having masks and gloves would be worse in that case. So the people that went out would need masks and gloves. That's the thing, I had to make broad guesses because I'm not a doctor, so I am literally going off the Mayo Clinic website's recommendations until Hank has something more concrete."

"Well, hopefully what you have is sufficient for now, until we know more," she said with a nod.

[diabhal_beag]

"It'll have to be, until we can get some useful answers."

[aquawayfinder]

She nodded once, agreeing.

[diabhal_beag]

"I can't much say I'm not worried - I very much am - but the priority has to be those around me, rather than just me. I'm no doctor, just good at putting the information together."

[aquawayfinder]

"A wonderful attitude, and your assistance is very much appreciated."

[diabhal_beag]

"Indeed. I'm here to keep an eye out on you, but also to compile notes. Hopefully, we will produce some useful results..."

[aquawayfinder]

"Hopefully we shall soon determine a cure, and better, a vaccine."

[diabhal_beag]

"Indeed. Until then our best priority is mitigation of symptoms. I think we can handle that."

"One hopes so."
