WHO: Ken and whoever wanders into the kitchen.
WHAT: CAKEBAKING.
WHERE: The dorm kitchen.

It's been two years since much of anything has happened on Ken's birthday - or maybe, more accurately, other people might've noticed but the person he wanted to notice hasn't been there to do so - but this year, it's finally occurred to him that just because his mother's not here anymore doesn't mean he can't do anything about it himself.
(He's not entirely sure he wants to, but it might make it feel a little more normal, he figures? It's got to be worth a try.)
So the oven is on and heating, and he's got a box of chocolate cake mix that he's reading the side of, and someone (probably some senior or someone else ridiculously tall) has thoughtfully left the canola oil on a really high shelf, and after a long, dubious look at the cabinets, Ken is clamboring up onto the countertop to try and grab it down, in a move that is neither dignified nor, strictly speaking, in accordance with proper kitchen conduct.
It'd be a shame if someone caught him in the act.
