[No answer. He shouldn't have expected anything else, really. Even so, it makes him feel a bit tired, and on the inside of his head he is suddenly angry with the part of him that's gone, the forgotten part. Maybe that part would know what to do. But as instinctive as some things about Hijikata are to him, it's as if he's lost huge chunks of the script, and he doesn't know how to help people.

How do you help people?

He remembers the psychologists that never existed, the hospitals that never existed, the well-meaning nurses that never existed. He's looking for a code, some kind of sign he might have left himself, a key to solving this. He finds Ayumu-sensei, smiling kindly at him and asking, And you blamed yourself for all the bad things that were happening, right?]
