SINISTER FINALE
WHO: Those who signed up for the punching dinosaurs Savage Lands mission
WHAT: Time to get a cure
WHERE: Savage Land Nature Preserve
WHEN: October 10th
WARNING(S): Violence, language, etc
The Blackbird was getting quite a bit of use, lately. It left the Institute early, before the sun was properly up—from there, it was a straight line from New York to Antarctica, with no stops between. The paperwork had been cleared, official permission granted for the team to enter an international wildlife reserve. There would be no scandalous headlines of border-crossing house parties this time, thank you very much.
The glasslike surface of the Antarctic Ocean stretched away endlessly beneath the plane, disappearing into a fog-clouded horizon.
They weren’t there quite yet.
But they would be soon.

A Safe Landing?
Circling around the Blackbird finally finds a place to land. A flat section of a large clearing about 5 miles away. As soon as they landed and the engines shut down they could hear the loud roaring of the local wildlife around them.]
REOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRR!!!
Re: A Safe Landing?
[he pops his claws]
Keep the wildlife away from the ship.
Re: A Safe Landing?
I've been waiting for this.

...Someone might want to grab her as tiny girl probably isn't the best for this part.]

"Looks like we got ourselves a sitch, partner."
After stopping that missile Joss was pumped, and that feeling became a full on adrenaline high when she heard a roar in the distance.
"Lets wrangle them terrible lizards!"
no subject
how big are the pterodactyls?
[Rinka unhooks her batons as she charges down the ramp, enjoying the very satisfying snap as she flicks them open. Running for the nearest tree, she takes a couple steps up the trunk before leaping for one of the flying reptiles, batons outstretched.]
Re: how big are the pterodactyls?
She had been so eager to get into the fray, that she neglected to change the setting on her goggles, and still had them set to detect radio waves/inferred radiation, which meant the flying reptiles radiation signature barely registered.
She reached for the dial, missing a chance to attack.
About small dog sized! Small sharp flappy dogs
Either way, as soon as she disembarked she got a face full of hissing and flapping flying lizard. Thing. Whatever it was that she was batting at furiously with her physical arms and vectors.]
Fuck off!
no subject
Seeing his teammate getting them in her face though, he took a step back, let his nose elongate until it was beaklike, his pinkie too, with a web of skin growing under his arm like a gliding lizard. He screeched a 'fuck off/the hell are you doin'?' screech at them, a signal he hoped they would understand.]

Rinka connects directly with one of them, another dive bombs Joss, and the one pestering Kaede squawks as it backwings away. To Liir, its squawks vaguely sound like a flurry of slightly insincere apologies. But it was going away right now, right now, promise-!
Kisume latches onto its tail, though, and its squawking intensifies as the small mutant drags it to the ground.]

"Yeah you go girls!"
One of the flying reptiles suddenly dive bombed Joss.
"Aaaaah" Joss screamed, and jumped into the ferns, but she isn't there long before she ran out yelling something about spiders.

She's trying to be helpful!]
no subject
Joss, get behind me.
no subject
She literley jumped to get behind Rinka, scrunching herself small so no part of her showed beyond Rinka's sides.
"Thanks fer tha save, sister. The animals here are nasty!"
no subject
So Kaede propelled herself upwards to cannonball through the pterodactyls' formation, trying to scatter them and keep them from regrouping into something threatening.
She wasn't using her vectors to hurt them at all.]
no subject
The one Kisume has pinned continued to squawk, this time more shrilly--and two other pterodactyls in the scattered flock swoop down to save their friend.
The rest scatter away, but there's more shapes that weren't there a few minutes ago lurking in the undergrowth.]

"Dang those buzzards are worse than vultures over a dead buffalo. But even they aren't as scary as that spider I saw."
Joss attempted to hug Rinka's legs in fright as she spoke. "It was the size of my dang head."
She looked back to the undergrowth, adjusting her goggles to see if she could pick the creature up somewhere in the EM spectrum despite it hiding.

...she'd apologize later, but for now Kaede's first reaction was to grab the collar of her shirt, not unlike scruffing a cat.]

Why stop? I fight!

[She cautiously let go of Kisume now, still prepared to grab her if she darted off again.]
no subject
[She's not heading out yet, Kisume understands reason about staying close.]
Will help.

[Reki was out immediately. She passed her hand over a notebook and a wall blinked into existence on one side of the exit ramp, providing a convienent barrier against anything about Dinonychus sized and below.]

"Aaaaah! Spiders!"
Joss jumped back out of the foliage. She ran back up to the X-jet, to the nearest adult she could find.
