So this was Christmas, and War was Not Over. The soup lines, this time, were alongside official Vaccine Centers, cures to the Legacy Virus being handed out alongside plates of hot food for the needy. Once more, winter was bleak in the world of mutants living in forced squalor. Attitudes were not particularly bright. People were no longer dying in the streets from illness, but were conditions really any better? War with Genosha was imminent. The National Guard was already standing post around the community, enforcing curfews, treating the area now more than ever like an internment community. Xavier's students were allowed to move around freely, but only with special ID badges that marked them as such. It was the same all over the country.
This wasn't Mutant Registration... it somehow felt worse. And it didn't help that the Mutant Liberation Front was still very active in the area, and many of them entirely blamed the X-Men for Renko's apparent 'death'. There were antagonistic forces around them, and desperate faces looking at them for some kind of hope. And if they couldn't get it there...
There were whispers, a lot of them, about fleeing to Genosha. About joining the MLF and working alongside Genosha for 'true' mutant liberation. About kickstarting this war on local soil. And really...
... was there anything the X-Men could do to stop it? Should they stop it?

Okay. [ ... ] I'll see what I can do.
[ If there was anything at all her third eye could help with in this department. ]

Space, and sight, were the two things he had now that he didn't have then. He wasn't about to let this little troll get the best of him a second time. This time, he definitely aimed to make her into a beautiful little corpse, far better than the ugly shell she currently was. And her friend, too.]

She couldn't read minds anymore, but that sneering was loud and clear in other areas of his mind. ]
...he's making fun of us.

And just like all the others... he's doing it because he's afraid of us. Isn't that right?

He stopped.
[ She doesn't see the knife flying until it zooms right past her face. ]

His jealousy had come out, hateful at having been bested by this morlock freak, and he wanted her to see him as he killed her. He had forgotten the other target completely. He had no idea she was behind him.]

One thing she'd been practicing, while at home, was more direct combat tactics. Discovering that she could actually use her third eye to fight was a big step. Without any warning, she sends out a web of tendrils to form a cage around him, to try to root him in place for a moment--if she could just hold him down, she could give Parsee an opening...! ]

[Parsee's smile never faltered, in spite of the blood trailing down her arm. She pulled the knives from the wound, licking them clean in an intimidating display before tossing them aside. With Vanisher trapped like that, she had a chance, albeit brief, to land a killing blow.
Parsee lunged with her good arm, claws ready, aiming for his throat...]

[ This guy was really getting on her nerves, and slipping out of her grasp at the last second amplified it.
And then--crap. Koishi retracts the tendrils and ducks as quickly as she can, though Parsee's claws still manage to tear up the ribbon on her hat. ]

Koishi! Get down!

Koishi flips back onto her feet, keeping a hand on the first tendril to steady it. She shoots Parsee a look over her shoulder that says get ready, as she sends another tendril out in an attempt to bind Vanisher's other hand. ]

Koishi flails uselessly for a few seconds, scrambling to grab a hold of something, her hands grasping at air. ]
Parsee...!

Mind you, it was SEWER water but it was the best she could do on short notice..and it was the most she could get a hold of with her powers. It's a fairly large amount, A lot more then what she would normally be able to do but she's shaking with the concentration.]
