X-23 had very good reaction times, she was very fast and very strong. She came into the room first, hoping to catch any threat before it could be a danger to Kanji. And she failed, the weapons armed and she had a choice. If the blast was aimed at her, she could evade it, if it was aimed at Kanji and Takane... one of them could die.
