WHO: Kaito and Maddie
WHAT: Skating rink date.
WHERE: At a skating rink near the school.
WHEN: 9/12

[It had been a long time since Kaito and Maddie had been to this place. Not much seemed to have changed in the time they were gone, and the guy running the place seemed to remember him. Kaito rented out the private rink just for the two of them, not an uncommon thing. Though when they step inside of the room, there is something set up on the ice.

There is two hockey sticks, a bucket of hockey pucks and a shooting target set up a ways away from it.]

Oh, what a completely unexpected surprise. [Kaito may or may not have paid the dude a little extra in advance just to set this thing up.]

[She crosses her arms and shoots him a look. It clearly says she is not that surprised] Oh what a shock.

[He gets nudged with her hip as she takes a seat to pull on her skates, rolling her eyes when he catches hers.]

Ooone day you'll stop spending money on silly surprises. One day. I have faith.

[Kaito grins and takes a seat and starts to put on his skates as well.]

So setting this up for you is silly? If that's the case, I can just get rid of that stuff. It won't be any trouble at all.

Now now there's no need to get crazy. [She raises an eyebrow] You'd like that, getting your ass kicked is sort of embarassing.

It would be, but I don't think I'm the one that's going to get my ass kicked today. [He's been practicing, you know. He securely ties his skates and then he stands up and moves toward the ice.]

Five shots each. Whoever get the most in past the target wins.

Are you up for that, Madeline?

Oh Kaito, dear, you aren't going to beat me at my own game. I wasn't on the team at school for no reason at all.

[She slips past him onto the ice and swivels to face him]

What do I win?

If you win, I will tell you a secret. Before you say something, trust me, it's worth being used as a wager.

Now. If I win, what do I get? And powers are allowed, correct? [With his powers, Kaito could sink every shot.]

Hmn, I don't know. A few pictures maybe--and no, no powers. [She grabs a stick and leans on the end for a moment]

You'd cheat to win. I know you. You realize now I have to win.

I hope I get to choose what kind of pictures they are. [He floats his stick off the ice and into his hand. Then he floats 5 pucks from the bucket and places them on the ice, all evenly spaced apart.]

Ladies first. [He motions to the pucks.]

I never said that. [She smirks and skates up to the line of pucks]

You'll just have to wait and never see. [She shoots one right after the other, pausing only to line up the shot before moving right along to the next one. In the end, she misses one and it slides right back past them where it hits the wall]

Okay I hit that one too hard.

Really? Because I'm pretty sure that you hit it with the same strength that you usually use. [He floats up five new pucks from the bucket and he starts up to the line.]

But four. I think I can beat that.

Shut your mouth. [She teases and leans on her puck, raising an eyebrow] No cheating.

[She may call cheating if he wins anyhow whoops]

[Kaito is going to play things fair. He lines up his first shot and hits the puck and it goes into the center hole. His second shot goes through the bottom right hole. The third shot misses when it hits against the side of the goal and bounces away. His fourth shot just barely slides into the bottom left hole. And his final shot misses the goal by a couple of inches and hits the wall.]

..I think you put some kind of hockey jinx on me to make me miss those two.

[She grins as she skates over, looping an arm around his waist to stop her momentum] Oooor I'm a better player and you are a sore loser. You can't blame me for your inability to fling a puck in a hole.

You say that like it is an easy feat. Not everyone has been slapping pucks a one hundred miles per hour and body checking people against glass as much as you.

But a deal is a deal. You want to know the secret?

If you don't play like me, how can you hope to win against me? [She likes winning at things, it makes up for the things he wins at. Obviously]

And well--winning would have been enough, but yes. What's my prize worthy secret?

Alright. I have an engagement ring with me and I am going to ask you to marry me. [Kaito floats out five more pucks and makes a line and nonchalantly says.] Should we go another round?

Wait--what? [She blinks, processing that for a moment as she looks at the pucks float out, then she shoves him a little, flustered] You're going to ask me like that?!

[He manages to keep his balance after that little shove.] I haven't asked you yet. The secret is that I have a ring and I am going to.

Well it's not much of a secret now is it? [She's not sure exactly what's she's supposed to do] So--I just keep playing, knowing that?

Well hmm. We can make this an extra special round. If you manage to sink every shot, you win a super special possibly life changing prize.

Can you manage that?

I have to win my own proposal? You're so ridiculous. Fine--if I lose a shot, you're the one who loses.

[She shoves him again, skating backwards and shakes her head]

[He slides back a bit and watches.]

Well you could just not play..but this is hockey and this is you. Getting five in should be a breeze.

[She point the end of the stick at him and shakes her head] Of course I can, but here I thought you'd want to propose for me, not my hockey ability. Oh how low.

[She turns away, back to the goal and this time takes a little more care lining up her shots. Center, center, lower right, center, upper left. Oh wait she actually got them all, she's not really sure what to do. She was actually pretty sure nerves would keep her from getting at least one.]

[Well would you look at that. He knew she could sink those shots pretty easily. And when she turns back to Kaito, she'll see that he is already down on one knee with a ringbox in hand and open to show the ring.]

[She knows she's blushing and she doesn't want to do that dumb thing where you cover your mouth in surprise and tear up and all that. He had just told her he would, and he did, and her first instinct is really to do that dumb thing. She settles for trying to covering her wide smile with a fist.]

I'm surprised you can balance like that. [Oh so romantic Maddie. She drops her stick with a clatter she doesn't really hear and reaches out, almost touching the ring before looking back at him]

It's really easy when you are a telekinetic. [It has saved his butt from hitting the ice many times in the past.]

Madeline Williams, I love you more than I have loved anyone in my life. These five years that we have been together, even with all of the rough patches and drama has still been the happiest years of my life. And it would make me the happiest man on this or any other planet if you would do me the honor of becoming my wife.

Will you marry me?

[It's really really dumb to be so worked up and flustered but still, that two minute interval was not nearly enough time to process the idea. And honestly it's a lot more real with the box and the ring and him on his knee. She dips down, kissing him before she even answers, hardly even wavering on her skates.]

Of course I will.

[Kaito just has the biggest grin on his face when they finally break the kiss. He reaches over to the ring box and removes the ring from it. He floats the box into his pocket as he takes Maddie's hand and slides it onto her finger.]

It's beautiful. [She manages, unable to really stop smiling or giggling as she admires it. She holds it out to watch it sparkle and her grin only get wider] You really do have good taste.

Yes, but its beauty pales in the comparison of the wearer. I am glad that you like it, though. I went to so many stores just trying to pick out the perfect one for you.

How long have you even been planning this? When did you even find time to go--unless you really didn't have as much to do these last few months as you claimed. Tsk, sneaking around on your fiancee.

I'd say.. [Kaito looks as if he is thinking about it.] Ever since June. I spent a while trying to find the perfect ring, and then we were moving back here, so I had to put it off for a little longer than I had been planing to.

[ She grins, grabbing his hands and pulling him up of the ice. It doesn't succeed very well until she digs in the tip of her skate for leverage.]

That's a long time to hold onto a secret like that. I guess i just didn't really-- we've been together so long, you know.
