At the very least, the snowfall wasn't blizzard strength today. But it was making the work of unloading the trucks at the community center difficult. But the kitchen was cooking, the fires were going, and up and down the block, families lined up to get blankets, to get food, and get some hope from a group many of them considered to be heroes for entirely different reasons than most did...

[ He nods a little. Honestly, he doesn't see through Krista's act.. although it's mostly since he doesn't bother. Natsuno's not too likely to actually want to get to know people, after all, unless he takes a special interest in them. And even then it's still a little.. ]

Pretty sure anyone would say the same. The world's not that kind, though.

[ And Natsuno here? Well, he's basically your classic textbook pessimist for the most part. ]

[She shrugs, with a small smile.]

We can all do something to make it a little kinder.

Even if the majority won't participate?

[ Don't get him wrong - even if he'd love you to, honestly - Natsuno actually actively contributes to making stuff a little better. Or at least taking care of the worse. But he knows that most people aren't that good. Hell, he doesn't even consider himself that good, despite being fairly decent in actions rather than words. ]

It sounds like an impossible idea.

Even if they wouldn't, would that mean it isn't worth us trying?

I don't mind doing stuff for causes that actually change something. [ Otherwise he wouldn't have tried to rid an entire village of vampires back home, after all. But-- ]

If it's useless though.. then I'm not going to waste my time.

You can only guess at how useless it's going to be if you don't try.

[ He gives her somewhat of a Look. What's it with his life and gathering way too naive-seeming blondes around him.. ]

This is one of those things anyone could see and immediately call useless. [ ... ] Anyone with some common sense, anyway.

Do what suits you. Just don't drag me into it. [ The moral of Natsuno's life.. or what he would like to be the moral, anyway. Somehow he always gets dragged along in other people's businesses despite trying to avoid it like hell.. ]

Yeah.

[ Not at all. But he won't be able to prove his point here if he tells the truth and he'd seem uncool on top of it. ]

[If that were true, she thinks, he'd be complaining more about the teacher. She doesn't know much about interacting normally with people, but she's watched how they act all her life.]

[ He just shrugs a little, as if to say "yeah, what gives?". She doesn't seem like the kind of girl who would ask more about it after getting a reaction like that, he thinks. ]

[She gives him a long, curious look, then a gentle smile, as if choosing to let it go.]

...Well, it was good of them to, then. But I think it's natural to want to help.

[ Thank you for choosing to not call him out on his bluff, Krista.. even if Natsuno himself totally doesn't realise that was a choice, he just thinks it was that convincing, apparently. ]

Well, for people like you it probably is. Not like there's a lot like that out there.

I don't know if I think that's true.

[It's absolutely true. But it would be nice to think it wasn't.]
