⊗Never let it be said that Emma didn't know her stuff. Not content with the paltry and tired and cliche decorations Kurt and subjected the students to at previous events, she had completely taken over, using a combination of her wealth and mutant powers to create a sort of bohemian love palace for the students. Dance floor, tables, the finest foods. This was not a party the likes of which they had seen before... unless they were part of the older crowd, and had witnessed Emma at work before.
Was she good or was she good? On the stage, Emma stood proudly, taking each of the auctionable singles to the stage, one by one, and selling off just a fraction of their free time to the highest bidder. And the fact that it was all for charity left the whole situation comfortably guilt and obligation free.
Of course, as the host, she was more focused on the party and its guests as a whole than any particular individuals... Attempts at sneaking off probably would go unremarked upon. Probably.
[[ OOC: Each auction will receive its own top level, as well as a top level for general mingling. PLEASE CONSULT THE PLOTTING POST BEFORE BIDDING ]]

He pauses a moment, gauging just how much more explanation Tiamaris is going to need.
"A number of people have agreed to... contribute some of their time--a, ah, a date, for example--to be bid upon in the auction. Proceeds go toward charity. Not a wholly uncommon sort of event, in society--that is, high society--to put a little fun and drama, I suppose, into the charity event."

"Is not a date supposed to be between people who like each other? Or... are people supposed to be able to make themselves like someone else at need?"
Just another skill he was missing, he supposed, as the orange became more predominant.

He pauses a moment.
"I suppose more broadly, you might say dates are about... ah... enjoying one another's company, and getting to know one another. But I don't believe anyone's expected to make themselves... take an interest they don't naturally--not here, at any rate."

"If you've not noticed, it seems as though mine has not been, so far, terribly pleasant for you."

"Yes. Well. Pardon my saying so, but that hardly seems to suggest a glowing commendation, considering. I suppose I am glad, at least, that you don't find my company tortuous."
In light of the other thread, this one has a new edge to it x.x

"...let us consider that a first step on a journey. If nothing else, it's gratifying to think I can, perhaps, offer the possibility of another sort of relationship than that one."
