Who: Aqua and anyone who wanders into the open lounge
What: Aqua has been tasked to watch Romcoms. Thank you, Emma Frost.
Where: An open public lounge, since she has no clue how to work the DVD player on her computer.
When: Backdated - Middle of the day, April 7th

Having been assigned by Emma to watch romantic comedies in order to potentially understand the point in having a date when she chaparones prom, Aqua has done what she has always done when facing a task at this school. She went to the library and took out research material.

Armed with every Romcom the school library had in stock, and wondering why the librarian had looked quite so amused, she found a lounge that no one was using and put in the first DVD. She turned on the player, and sat down to watch.

This... lasted a whole minute before she was up and pacing. She really didn't like sitting still. But... she reminded herself, this was a task, a challenge set before her. A skill to learn and master.

So she sat back down and worked on mastery as she watched, focusing both on the movie and the restraint to stay sitting.

Anyone want to come laugh at the confused look on her face?

"Well... it's not like the students are going to need constant monitoring? It's a dance... they're just there... dancing. And if everyone is dancing, no one can talk to you?"

It was really hard trying to figure this out without having been to a school dance herself at all.

"I do not need conversation, guard duty is better done aware and un-distracted, is it not?"

Yes, she really did have the wrong idea about the prom...

"W-well, yes, if it was guard duty, but this is just a big party... I think the chaperons are only there in case an adult is needed for something."

Then again, this is the Institute. Maybe some jerk is planning to crash their prom.

"If it is not as guards, why do the professors need to attend? Is that not why we are there as chaperones, not as guests?"

"Because sometimes teenagers get into trouble? Only, not all the time?"

Oh dear, is she turning Aqua into some sort of party pooper?

"I do not understand. If there might be trouble, shouldn't I be aware and alert at all times?"

"No... I mean... it's not like we're expecting trouble.... Are we?"

Wait. Is this why they asked Master Aqua to be a chaperone? Because they knew she'd be all business and no play? Were the staff expecting trouble?

"Not that anyone has told me, I just presumed that the job is to be on hand in case there is trouble. If not, why else would I be attending?" she asked, confused herself.

Okay, okay, that was good to know.

"That doesn't mean you can't have a little fun too though..." Rinka said, trying to find the right words to explain the impression she had of how this whole dance chaperon was supposed to go. "The students will know where to find the teachers if they need them. So keeping a super close watch will just make the students feel... confined?"

"I do not wish the students to feel unnecessarily upset," she agreed. "However, I was not informed that there were set posts for us, and if there is not such a design, how then would the students know where to find us?"

Rinka chuckles. "Students always know where teachers are, or at least they try their hardest too."

"Then you believe the students anticipate trouble?" she asked, concerned.

"No, I don't think so," Rinka said, trying to hold back a small laugh. "I just mean the usual reasons students try to watch teachers."

"What usual reasons would those be?" she asked, completely perplexed.

Could you tell she didn't have an American public school education?

"Erm... well... pranks? Making-out? Things that sort of bend school rules but don't break them?"

She's breaking some sort of unspoken student code right now, but this is serious guys.

"Pranks?" she asked, confused. "Why would they need to know where we are for those? Do they expect us to assist?" This place was quite odd. "Making out what? Checks?" She did not think that was it, but nothing else quite fit, perhaps she was mis-translating the term? She had thought that her English had been getting better....

"Is not learning what you can and cannot do within a rule set part of what is expected and desired in schooling?"
