"...not the cure that everyone has been hoping for, but researchers working with the virus ravaging mutant enclaves around the country claim to have reached a breakthrough -- a treatment which can stop the contagion from spreading from person to person. For more on this, we're joined by our medical specialist..."
"...ravaged by riots for the second time this year, District X citizens have been organizing to repair the damage that's been done not only the the buildings and infrastructure, but also to their sense of community. Several people are in S.H.I.E.L.D. custody in connection with the recent outbreak of violence, but few details have emerged so far..."
"...outpouring of grief from mutant communities and their supporters internationally after a high-profile member of the X-men's death was confirmed. Kurt Wagner, known to the public as 'Nightcrawler', was a long-time staff member at the Xavier Institute, rumored in recent months to have been suffering from the virus affecting mutants around the nation and the world. When asked for comment, a representative of the school asked for peace and privacy, and declined any further discussion..."
"...slight drop in mainstream support for candidates Norman Osborn and Graydon Creed attributed to their well-publicized outbursts against, among others, the mutant and pro-mutant protest groups that have been dogging them on the campaign trail. A video taken just last week of Osborn's rambling and incoherent response to a question posed to him by a mutant attendee of a meet-and-greet event went viral, prompting mockery even from some of the other candidates in the primary..."
"...international news, President Kelly has set a date for a new round of discussions with Genoshan leadership. Speaking with the press this morning, he said that he wanted to give his thanks to them personally for the help that their researchers have provided in the past weeks, and to continue making steps towards the normalization of relations..."

She also still didn't fully understand it all but..at the very least she could try and offer support.]
CW in this comment - memories of child abuse and emotional neglect of a child
[She might have expected one of the people she had wrapped around her finger to come and try to comfort her, but Kisume came as a surprise. It was startling to have someone so close, but...]
[But she remembered how her mother had reacted to that hug, long ago. Shock, anger, rejection that hurt worse than her fist did.]
[She wasn't a good person, but she would never, ever wish that on a child.]
[So she forced herself to relax, and patted the younger girl gently on the shoulder.]
Are you alright? I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you worry.
no subject
I okay. Worried about you or others.
[The smile melted away at that, worry taking over for the moment. She's quiet, trying to figure out how to say what she wanted to.]
Look sad...Lonely. want to make feel better?

[She reached out for the remote control, changing the channel. The next channel had a baseball game on, which she didn't care about, except that Kisume wasn't going to see anything distressing on it.]
But I'm happy you came to sit with me, and I'd be happy to sit with you a while longer. Thank you.

[That smile returns and Kisume tucks her legs under her. At the channel change, she tilts her head a little bit but soon loses interest in it. After a moment of her being silent she speaks up again.]
Good. Not want make more sad. Try be...friend?
[Give her credit. She's not good that this at all.]
no subject
I'd love to be your friend. You're a good friend to Kaede, too, aren't you?
no subject
[Which to someone who was almost pack minded, was a very good thing. And with her main group of friends so far away...]
Friends important. Be there when others can not. Also have fun and learn!
no subject
[It seemed like a good topic for her.]

[She's not sure Of course after what she says..the real answer is no.]
I have clan. They not here though...Like Patchy and Pigeon is here too.
no subject
I don't think I know any of those people, but I'd like to become friends with them, too, if I can.
no subject
Can meet! When want to. Pigeon teach and Patchy read.
[She's so close..but slightly off.]

If they're your friends, I'm sure I'll like them.
