"...not the cure that everyone has been hoping for, but researchers working with the virus ravaging mutant enclaves around the country claim to have reached a breakthrough -- a treatment which can stop the contagion from spreading from person to person. For more on this, we're joined by our medical specialist..."
"...ravaged by riots for the second time this year, District X citizens have been organizing to repair the damage that's been done not only the the buildings and infrastructure, but also to their sense of community. Several people are in S.H.I.E.L.D. custody in connection with the recent outbreak of violence, but few details have emerged so far..."
"...outpouring of grief from mutant communities and their supporters internationally after a high-profile member of the X-men's death was confirmed. Kurt Wagner, known to the public as 'Nightcrawler', was a long-time staff member at the Xavier Institute, rumored in recent months to have been suffering from the virus affecting mutants around the nation and the world. When asked for comment, a representative of the school asked for peace and privacy, and declined any further discussion..."
"...slight drop in mainstream support for candidates Norman Osborn and Graydon Creed attributed to their well-publicized outbursts against, among others, the mutant and pro-mutant protest groups that have been dogging them on the campaign trail. A video taken just last week of Osborn's rambling and incoherent response to a question posed to him by a mutant attendee of a meet-and-greet event went viral, prompting mockery even from some of the other candidates in the primary..."
"...international news, President Kelly has set a date for a new round of discussions with Genoshan leadership. Speaking with the press this morning, he said that he wanted to give his thanks to them personally for the help that their researchers have provided in the past weeks, and to continue making steps towards the normalization of relations..."

No. There was more...weight to it than that. More significance. And here she'd been the one snapping that names were important. She mentally kicked herself.
Kaede curled her hand gently around Krista's (Historia's) arm and squeezed a little, a quiet apology.]
...do you want me to call you that?
[The anger had been squashed almost entirely out of her voice this time.]
god I need more icons
[She didn't pull away -- she felt as if she didn't have the energy to. All that she had left went into that one word.]
Just... forget it.
[Everyone would be happier if Historia had never existed.]
no subject
Well, she wouldn't be alone; not when it came to different names for the same-slightly-different person. Even though Kaede's case was much more severe.
Kaede wasn't going to let her stay alone.
And she wasn't going to forget. But she wasn't going to move, either.
She gave Krista's arm a gentle squeeze, saying nothing out loud.]
no subject
...It's fine, Kaede. Don't make that face.
[Nothing about it was fine.]
no subject
I'm not making a face.
[She was staying right here.]
no subject
[She really, really wishes she could convince her of that, though she's not sure it's really possible.]
[...Well, again, barring the use of her power.]

So Kaede did the one thing that still seemed to get through to Krista (or at least got different reactions from her) and leaned her head down onto the other girl's shoulder.
...her neck was tired of keeping her head up, that's all.
And...well, maybe Krista would react differently.]
no subject
[With an exhausted sigh, she let herself go limp, too, wishing vaguely that she'd just melt into the cushions and disappear.]
no subject
Well, no, Krista did do something, by staying there. And of course it wouldn't be hope or anything, that would be stupid and...what did she have to hope for, anyway? That Krista still wanted her around? That Krista cared--really cared--about her? Who the hell cared about her? Kaede was abrasive and argumentative and angry and Krista still wanted to...be around her anyway.
The same way Kaede wanted to be around Krista.
...so maybe it was.
Some of Kaede's hair slipped from her shoulder to hang into Krista's lap, but she didn't physically move.]
no subject
[She let her eyes close, as if she was trying to sleep. She wasn't tired exactly, not physically, but keeping them open, seeing and processing and thinking, just seemed too hard.]
[Just for a moment... just for a moment, she'd rest here, and be quiet, and not have to be anyone at all.]
no subject
Between that thought and whatever came next, Kaede dropped off into a doze.]
