Hellfire Club: The Mission [CLOSED]

WHO: Nightcrawler and those selected for the mission.
WHAT: The Hellfire Club infiltration mission
WHERE: Manhattan
WHEN: Late evening
WARNING(S): Could get violent.

Team One was already on the ground, infiltrating the party. The rest waited in silence aboard the Blackbird, hovering in complete stealth mode high above the island. Back at the Institute, Professor X closely monitored the communications of the team, ready to give the signal when ready...

It was go time.

[[ OKAY HERE'S HOW IT'S GOING TO GO.

Top levels will be going up for each mission phase. Each phase will, OOCly, go on simultaneously so no one has to wait for another team to complete their task. Players have freedom to play as they like, but the mod characters in each team (Feliks, Shindou, Reimu) will most likely lead the action in the direction it's intended to go. The mod account will pop in for NPCing every now and again.

Have fun! ]]

Damn it. He holds his breath reflexively, recoils at the first hint of heat, which isn't comfortable for him in general anymore. Heat is hell. He instinctively smacks one hand over his mouth to further avoid breathing in the gas, other hand directed out toward the remaining canisters. Ice crackles over them, blocking the flow of gas.

And because the whole move is reflex on his part, the release of power isn't quite wholly controlled; the temperature in the hallway dips noticeably, some of the gas shifting into frost.

Once she finds a patch of clean air, Rinka gasps in a fresh lungful, then climbs to her feet. Plunging in, she finds there's still gaps between them large enough for her teammates to get through.

"It's patchy," she tells the other two. "Shouldn't be hard to side-step. I'll check ahead."

Winding her way between the plumes of gas, she gets to the end of the corridor and --

-- lets out a mental yelp as a blast of energy passes right through her leg. She ducks back to get out of range.

"I'm okay! Just, um, something firing at us again. Let me look."

Now that she knows something is there, she doesn't flinch whens she pokes her head out to look and a beam passes right through it. It probably looks super freaky for the other two.

"Four blasters. One in each corner. Free floating. Either motion sensitive or have some sort of visual capabilities. You guys toss and freeze and I'll draw their fire."

Jamming her nightsticks into her belt, she dashes out into the waiting area to distract the turrets.

They don't have a lot of time to come up with another plan, and thanks to that burning sensation M'gann is feeling rushed and hasty as is; once Rinka charges forward, M'gann follows. She can't even float right now, without the risk of getting into some of that poisoned air. It's all very discomforting.

Which just gives her a little more fuel when it comes to psychically punching things. M'gann doesn't give any thought to finesse or method now; just flinging her arms out, and doing her best to wrench control and smash one of those laser turrets into the ground. Her eyes are full on glowing at this point, thanks to the amount of effort she's putting out.

"Rinka, do you think-" and since she's running low on energy, M'gann doesn't bother with words. Instead she sends a mental image of Rinka staying phased out, and running between two of the turrets; without a target between them, they might just blast each other, right?

"Got it."

Rinka had only thought as far as keeping the turrets focused on her so they wouldn't blast her teammates, but attempting to get them to fry each other was good too. The trick would be to get high enough...

Running full speed at a bit of wall directly between two turrets, she takes two steps straight up the wall before flipping back as high as she can, trying to get the beams to cross.

So much for taking them all out in one attack. Yanking the objects around is only doing so much as well... but lucky for M'gann, she had some shrapnel on hand from those exploded, line-of-fire turrets. The sharpest bits of metal wobble against the floor for a second, before lifting into the air and making a hissing path for the turret floating its way into the air.

That strike takes a lot of focus for M'gann; she barely gets time to dodge to the side as the other turret starts shooting, and the force it takes to get her into the air also leaves her bumping against the nearest wall. She winces from the impact, but still calls out a warning.

'These things take a beating! Watch out!'

Gritting her teeth in frustration over how stubborn these last two are being, Rinka goes for the least damaged turret. Jumping up, she tries to phase her hands into its underside, thinking that if she could just reach in and make some components intangible, she might disrupt its systems.

It's not something she's actually tried to do before, let along while in motion. She only hit on the idea a few weeks ago, but hasn't had any opportunity to test it out, due to lack of something to experiment on. She could permanently damage something if she's not careful with this. Which is pretty much what she wants at the moment.
