Let it snow [CLOSED]

WHO: Meulin, Rhia
WHAT: Meulin meeting her roommate
WHERE: Meulin's room
WHEN: Backdated to Early January
WARNING(S): None so far

Well the first thing Meulin noticed that morning was that she was cold. Incredibly cold, like the world outside was suddenly inside and--was that snow on her blanket? She sat up and blinked at the snow very clearly swirled in patterns on her floor and the open window. Refusing to get out of bed to close said window quite yet, she shimmied down to the footboard and reached as far as she could for a thick sweater and some slipper. The slippers were layered with socks and she finally put her feet on the ice cold floor.

"Freezing--shish kabobs--come on." She muttered, skidding to a stop before the window. Huh. Was that branch in her window before? She gently bent it back to close the window and turned to survey the snow on her poor floor. She'd need to get a broom.

It doesn't really occur to her that someone opening the window might be a problem or that someone who used it to get out might be a bit trapped when they try to get back in. What DOES occur to her is she might have a roommate who has decidedly different opinions about windows and winter.

While the other girl's back was turned, Rhia had been skittering back along the branch, like a squirrel, to get back to the room. Finding it closed, she frowned. It had taken her nearly an hour to figure out how to open it the first time. But she had been inside, then, trying to get out. Now...

She sat up and made an odd Whooooshing sound, that sounded like wind in the branches of trees, asking the tree she was on, to open the window. The branch surged and shoved itself through the glass. Well, that was one way to open the window, she supposed.

She checked the tree first, to make sure it was unharmed, then she noticed the girl in the room. Rhia dropped down from the branch to check on her as well, landing on all fours. One hand caught the glass and she made a small cry of pain. She lifted her hand and looked at it, glass sticking out of her palm worse than any sharp rock.

She only understood about half of those words, but she got "Sit on the" "I'll get some" and "Get that out." she thought the other girl meant the sharp shining thing, but wasn't sure. So with her good hand she pulled herself up to sit on the branch, and waited.

She watched, quiet, curious. Another branch threaded it's way through the window and rested itself against her back. Despite a grimace of pain she turned back to smile at the tree. She made a small wooshing noise, then looked back to her hand.

She looked at the whole thing curiously, then said to her. "I never saw sharp rocks like that before."

"They call my home the Savage Lands" she said with a shrug. "Why keep the cold out?" she asked, confused.

"Yes, I feel the cold, I feel the wind, but if cannot handle it, why not hibernate?" she asked, tilting her head. "Some trees sleep, some animals sleep, and they wake when warm."

"No, but I like cold. Is as much as hot."

She hesitated. She didn't want to hurt her roommate who was apparently like a fragile spring bloom, but... she finally nodded. "Alright. I will sleep outside," she said with a nod. That made the most sense.

"You no like cold, not sure how to get tree in without cold in," she said simply. Is like a Fish and Bird trying to nest together. Will be okay," she said with a smile.

"How?" she asked confused, then tilting her head. "Why?"

Rhia seemed to consider as well, tilting her head. "I do not know much of how windows work," she finally admitted, since she had no idea what they could do.

"But if we open them, you freeze," she said in a soft plaintive voice, the kind only little kids could get, the kind that implied "And then you'll die and I'll be sad" without actually saying it.
