[It was enough of a distraction to bring the teen out of the mood the news put her in. Meiling glances back and up to Flandre.]

Huh? Oh..I don't think so..Unless we were in school toghter at one point?

[She hadn't spotted what would pique her curiosity more just yet, still trying to think on the question for the moment. ]

I wouldn't think so; I was home schooled until I came here. Unless you were in my house.

[Going to nod and think..and then she notices something that sparks recognition in her eyes. She knew those wings...]

Hey..Your wings...Are they limiters by any chance...?

[She'd explain how she would know that so fast if asked. But for now, priorities.]

[Flandre blinked, momentarily confused and a little taken aback by the question. One of her wings flicked a little, as if uncertain whether to unfurl for easier examination or curl up closer to her back to conceal its presence.]

These? Most of the time, yes.

Oh! ...Sorry..I helped test limiters out when I was younger. I have a nack for spotting them and have interest in them.

[There is a sheepish grin and Meiling rubs the back of her head.]

There is a certain set of limiters that I kinda have been looking for..or at least the person who has them. Yours look a lot like them..but that might be my imagination.

[The wing in question calmly folded to her back again, rather than nervously twitching.]

[if it meant anything, Meiling wouldn't know. But her curiosity is starting to get the better of her.]

[The fidgeting wing stills completely now--along with the other one.]

...were your family gardeners, by any chance?

...Yeah. Mom retired not that long ago to keep an eye on my little brother since he's going to be starting High school next year.

But how did you guess...?

[At that, Flandre smiled, wings relaxing again.]

The gardeners at our house had that name.

[There is a moment of just a "What." expression because there was only one family she remembered them working for, and her Dad still worked for as far as she remembered.]

I think the next question would be who are you?

[Actually Meiling it's 'What's your name?' but you are close.]

Flandre Scarlet. Nice to meet you.

[Her wings spread out in a small curtsey, rather than kneeling to reach the hems of her dress. She still had the feeling her chest might collapse on itself again if she did that even if she knew it wasn't true.]

[That expression does not fade, in fact it gets even stronger because she was not expecting this. Probably a bit worrying as she seems a bit...silent before breaking out into a smile and gives a seated half bow.]

Ah! That's who my family works for...including myself when I was younger.

[Give her a moment before it hits her again of something else. Cue awkward look and rubbing the back of her head.]

I take it you are one of their children? If so..I've kinda always wanted to meet you.

[Flandre tentatively started to smile--that was the right reaction, right?--further encouraged by Meiling's reaction.]

Yes, that's m--really?

[A nod at that.]

Yeah...I mean it was why I was technically working for your family in the first place when I was a lot younger. All I was told about either one was one as there were limiters and they needed testing.

[And she asked many times. But Meiling shrugged it off after a while.]

I'm overdue for a thank you, it seems.

[Though she paused a bit awkwardly after that; was a hug too forward? Shaking her hand seemed too simple.]

Oh! It's no problem. Anything to help someone else out.

[That grin isn't fading and Meiling's fairly relaxed.]

It also helped with learning a bit how to start controlling mine at the same time...Somewhat.

[Eventually Flandre settles on putting a hand on Meiling's shoulder; her grasp is still a bit timid and tentative, not sure if she was squeezing too hard or not.]
