Emma really knew how to throw a party. The Atlantean theme to the event was apparent in every decoration. The five gorgeous women playing in the string quintet that accompanied the event were dressed in fanciful mermaid inspired costumes, to match the setting. Why, if Namor himself walked through the door at that very moment, it's likely people would just have assumed he was an honored guest. And don't think Emma hadn't tried to do just that.

Food of all varieties was available, as well as multiple flavors of punch. When the string quartet wasn't playing, general Prom-style mixes of various hits and dance songs throughout the decade would play over the meticulously crafted sound system, a parting gift from a former student. All in all, it was truly as much a Paradise Beneath the Waves as Emma had wanted it to be.



And it didn't stop there. The outdoors of the Institute had also been decorated, but this time in the theme of a spring garden. Blankets were scattered out along the lawn around the pool, offering spaces for people to simply lay down, relax, and enjoy a myriad of virgin (and not so virgin, for the adults) cocktails provided by an "old friend" of Emma's.

It was the biggest social night of the year for the students of Xavier's. And Emma, knowing the transient nature of the school... wanted it to be as memorable as ever. Emma Frost herself, however... was curiously absent.

I take it you liked our little date after the auction? [She sounds very amused by this; not in a bad way. A little cheeky at worst.]

Liked? It vhas fantastic! Wunderbar! Ah, you are a rare woman, Sakuya. [Slip, fall, and tumble down the stairs...]

Oh my, now you're really flattering me... [She laughs, more than her usual giggle at that particular statement. Her tone stays a little coy, though.] ... It might even... work out for you, if you keep... that up.

Ah vhouldn't zhat be somezhing... [The blue devil chuckled, leaning in close to press his forehead against hers.]

But... To be more honest, I vhorry I may be moving too fast...

[Oh. Goodness. She cocks a slightly sideways smile at him getting as close as he does.]

One date with what... sounds like plans for a second, and a little flirting on... a dance floor over a couple months... isn't 'too fast' yet, Kurt. You're... alright for now.

In zhat case, if I have your permission to keep going... [Even closer now. He could feel her breath against his fur...]

[She doesn't giggle again, even if she wants to.] Oh my, in front of... all these students? How bold. [She lets those lovely golden eyes of hers close a bit. Oh, she's been out of this game long enough, might as well follow the trail and see where it goes before she totally loses her memories.] But you do.

[Well that put Kurt right on cloud nine. His tail whipped about as he finally closed the distance, eyes wide shut and lips pressing to hers.]

[It's cute, she thinks, that his tail does that when he's particularly happy. The kiss is nice, too. She holds it, lets it linger for a moment, but follows his lead a little more than not. It certainly feels nice; she definitely has gone perhaps a little too long without allowing herself to be a little closer to someone.]

[That made two of them. In spite of being the romantic he was, Kurt always carried with him that fear he would be rejected for what he was. Sakuya was a fellow mutant, and that helped... but she was this beautiful, ghostly woman... And he was the blue devil, dancing with her in the pale moonlight. It was like a fairy tale.]

[Most certainly. But as most fairy tales did, it had to come to an end at some point, and it did so a moment later, but the magic still lingered, at least a bit. And in the way Sakuya smiled, a little wryly, a little playfully, but definitely with a tone of affection.]
