What: Investigating the Plague with Beast and Wolverine

Warnings: Descriptions of sickness.

 

As one bus heads to Central Park another is heading into District X carrying those who wanted to help Beast and Wolverine look into the illness that was spreading through the district and had also infected Nightcrawler. There were so many questions to answer, how far has it spread? How is it spreading? Where did it start? What are the symptoms thus far? Are they getting worse?

"Right." That all made sense, if they were to analyze what worked and didn't work. She wondered if they were actually allowed to talk about that, but she supposed as long as everyone stayed anonymous...

"So we'll try and talk to the doctors directly?"

[diabhal_beag]

"Yeah. I can use my power on a low setting to get a little aid, if need be. Just for anonymous data and such - I'm not going to ask anyone to breach medical ethics, just like I wouldn't breach library ethics."

"What does your power do?" she asked, looking a little concerned about it even as she pondered the use of her own power to get consent to release documents.

[diabhal_beag]

"Inducing emotions, focused on me, on anyone who can see them. Spent six years with them locked onto the 'friendly' setting..."

"Oh." She took a breath, hesitating for a moment before adding, "So it's not so different from mine, maybe. I mean, mine isn't as focused on me, but..."

She laughed, a bit uncomfortably. "...I don't really use it much."

[diabhal_beag]

"Oh?", Carlyn responded. "Do tell."

"It's just that I can change people's emotions, sometimes their memories." she said, fiddling uncomfortably with her hair. "But it seems like an awfully personal thing to do, and some people get so upset about it, so I don't really like to."

[diabhal_beag]

"... Yeah, that's definitely a power to not abuse, like, ever." Carlyn blinked. "Even my power's deeply personal, and not something I like to use casually."

[martyrerkomplex]

Krista ducked her head down, in exaggerated embarrassment.

"I know. I really try not to use it at all, outside of training and self-defense."

[diabhal_beag]

"Self-defense... A pity we need it so often in this world..." Carlyn sighed.

"If anyone can do something about that, it's the X-men, right?"

Though Krista doubted the world would ever really be safe. The first time someone had tried to kill her, she hadn't known she was a mutant at all, after all.
