eileaneathompson: (Hi!)

A clone comes to call!

[personal profile] eileaneathompson 2015-08-17 07:33 am (UTC)(link)
Eli's clone argued her way into the area, knowing the professors were not happy about this, but there was no way she was letting her best friend... her only really friend... go through this alone. So whatever she had to do to be allowed in, in she came.

She carried the stuff she was bringing for Krista, and went hunting for her friend. She smiled when she saw her. "Told you I'd come!"
martyrerkomplex: (I don't care what they think)

[personal profile] martyrerkomplex 2015-08-26 01:27 pm (UTC)(link)
"You're really sure it's safe for you to be here?"

For Eli's sake, but not only hers. "We can't let anything contaminated get out into the school, you know that..."
eileaneathompson: (Hi!)

[personal profile] eileaneathompson 2015-08-26 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
"I know. that's why I'm killing the clone," she said cheerfully, though there was a flicker of something that was almost fear in the eyes of the clone as she spoke the words. "SO! What shall we do?" She asked, happily, taking her hands.
martyrerkomplex: (I would dial the numbers)

[personal profile] martyrerkomplex 2015-08-27 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)
That was... unsettling. Krista looked away.

"I don't know. I'm a little tired today..."
eileaneathompson: (Yeah?)

[personal profile] eileaneathompson 2015-08-27 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
"Okay," Eli said gently. "Why don't you rest. The clone will still be there when you wake up. I'll stay until you fall asleep, if you want, then put her on auto. Just call my cell when you want me to tune back in, okay?"
martyrerkomplex: (Come to my window - I'll be home soon)

[personal profile] martyrerkomplex 2015-08-31 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
It didn't sound like a bad idea. She wasn't sure she was up to pretending to be who Eli so often needed her to be, just yet -- the role she was playing and trying to keep it likable without sacrificing believability had gotten so much more complicated with the sickness.

"I think maybe you're right... Would that be alright with you, Eli?"
eileaneathompson: (Belldandy)

[personal profile] eileaneathompson 2015-08-31 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
"Of course," she said, squeezing her hand. "Rest. I'll be here. Just rest and feel better, okay?"
martyrerkomplex: (To ease this precious ache)

[personal profile] martyrerkomplex 2015-09-01 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
"Thank you," she murmured, patting Eli's hand with her free hand. She faked a little yawn, just to sell the whole thing -- though she probably looked exhausted enough that it was sort of more than necessary.

"You always take such good care of me."

[personal profile] eileaneathompson 2015-09-01 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
"You're my best friend," she said softly. "I'll do anything for you."
martyrerkomplex: (Come to my window - I'll be home soon)

[personal profile] martyrerkomplex 2015-09-01 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
"Thank you," she murmured again, drowsily, letting her eyes slip closed.
eileaneathompson: (Belldandy)

[personal profile] eileaneathompson 2015-09-01 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
Eli held her hand as she fell asleep, then let the clone go for the moment, leaving it on "Auto". She figured it would go to sleep. Instead, it looked around, then settled in to wait. It paid attention, even if Eli didn't.

Krista had sort of been counting on her going off to do something else, really. Was she going to have to lie here pretending to sleep as long as it took to get herself together again? That really wasn't how she'd hoped to spend the afternoon.

Maybe it was time for just a touch more of her power. Careful to use a light, nearly unnoticeable touch, trying to make it seem as natural as possible, she dropped a hint of curiosity into Eli's (the clone's?) feelings as she measured her breaths and pretended to sleep, to see what it would do.
eileaneathompson: (Hmmmmmmm)

[personal profile] eileaneathompson 2015-09-01 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
The clone looked around the room, curiously, then tried to ease her hand free. Krista had lots of stuff in here, it seemed, that she hadn't brought. he kind of wanted to see what it was.

Presuming she could get her hand out without "waking" the other girl, she moved across the room to poke around, hoping she wouldn't get anyone upset at her. But Eli was going to kill her anyway... so what did she have to lose, really?
martyrerkomplex: (Wait by the light of the moon)

[personal profile] martyrerkomplex 2015-09-01 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
Krista's room was full of things to read, mostly -- some brought by Eli, but mostly collected at the recommendation of her other friends. Her laptop was open on the table, too, with a page for a local homeless shelter up in the web browser and a stack of assorted DVDs next to it.

She sort of wished she could watch her directly, to see what effect that seed of curiosity would have. But she had to be more careful than that -- eyes closed, chest rising and falling evenly, pretending not to hear anything.

[personal profile] eileaneathompson 2015-09-01 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
She looked at the web page and read it carefully, without navigating away. Then she thought about what she read, and what she knew of Krista. She opened a document and wrote up notes on things they could do to help out at the shelter. She saved it to the desktop and closed the word processor. The notes would be found later. After she was dead, probably, so no one would ever know where they came from. Which was good. then she stepped away from the computer before she was tempted to do do more.

She then looked through the stack of things to read, looking at the choices. Wondering hat they might have in common.

Apparently Eli is quite susceptible to her power. The clones on auto, even more so.

[personal profile] martyrerkomplex 2015-09-02 04:57 am (UTC)(link)
There wasn't a whole lot of a noticeable theme to her books and magazines -- a few different people had recommended them or brought them for her, so their tastes were reflected much more than her own (which were pretty broad to start with, or perhaps just pretty vague.) Krista kept still, breathing as if she were asleep, listening out curiously.
eileaneathompson: (Hmmmmmmm)

[personal profile] eileaneathompson 2015-09-02 01:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Having explored that, she continued poking around the room, wondering how much more she could find that was interesting if this had been her actual room rather than a temporary one....
martyrerkomplex: (Or how much I can take)

[personal profile] martyrerkomplex 2015-09-08 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
There wasn't too much, aside from her books and computer. Aside from that, the whole room had the peculiar, empty sterility characteristic of a hospital, like no one had ever really lived in it. (It suited Krista, honestly. She could see herself in the hollowness of it.)
eileaneathompson: (Hmmmmmmm)

[personal profile] eileaneathompson 2015-09-08 05:31 am (UTC)(link)
Eventually she'd sit back down in the chair, bored but unsure what else she could poke at without getting into trouble.
martyrerkomplex: (Come to my window - I'll be home soon)

Handwave, unless there was something you had planned for this thread?

[personal profile] martyrerkomplex 2015-09-09 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
The best thing for it was just to try and actually go to sleep, she thought, since it would be strange to 'wake up' too early. She shuffled around a little to get comfortable, avoiding any dramatic movements that would seem out of place for a sleeping person, and did her best to drift off for a while.
eileaneathompson: (Insomnia)

Works for me

[personal profile] eileaneathompson 2015-09-09 05:19 am (UTC)(link)
And she sat and waited for her to awaken.
