For those not yet sick, andother OTA game of Rhiaball!

Who: Rhia and anyone out and about
What: Yet another game of Rhia ball
Where: Outside the mansion, but on the grounds
When: Early morning to mid-afternoon every day of August (Unless something comes up)
Warnings: Shouldn't be any
Rating: G

Rhia had no clue what was going on, that people were sick. She didn't follow the news, didn't use the cellphone thing she was given, and never went into the building... so... she had no clue. She was thinking about what Alric and Viti had said, though. But deep thoughts were for night time. Mornings were for fun. So She was swinging through tree banches, racing with the wind... and playing a whole lot of Rhiaball.

For those who have never seen her playing this game, it mostly consisted of Rhia - who looked like she was part tree herself with brown skin, brown hair, and green clothing made of leaves and vines - curled in a ball as the trees happily threw her from tree to tree in the canopy.

Sandry smiled in return and took a few more berries. "These are delicious, Rhia. Did you find these here on the school grounds?"

"I'll have to look for myself sometime," Sandry said thoughtfully. She hadn't been berry picking since last summer when she'd been in Norway. There'd been cloudberries in a public park and she and Pirisi had spent an hour picking and snacking as they walked around the park. The memory brought a sad smile to her face for a moment, but then she gave her head a small shake, as if to shake away the unhappy thoughts.

"What varieties have you see? Blackberries, raspberries, blueberries right?"

"Ooooo, now I'm curious," Sandry said. "Let's get a book from the library and try to figure out what they are. I bet they have a book on local flora or at least one on edibles."

oh dear, we'd better not tell Rhia what paper is made from...

Sandry nodded, not even blinking over the fact Rhia didn't know what a book was. She'd met several people in her travels who couldn't read and yet were extremely competent and talented in other ways. "Books are a way to record information and stories. You can read a book if you want to learn about a new subject or if you just want to relax with a nice story."

oh my~

"Maybe someone isn't very good at telling stories, or retelling them. Haven't you ever heard a story and then wanted to tell someone else, but it just doesn't sound the same coming from you? Or maybe the storyteller is really far away from you. Books make it possible for many people to experience the same story all over the world. It's kind of magical."

Sandry nodded.

"That's why books are so wonderful. If someone gives you a story in a book, no matter how far away they are, when you read the book, it's like they're there with you."

awww, well, Sandry's not a collector of books, but she much appreciates them

"They write it or they print it with ink. And to get it out, you read it. Hmmmm, this would be easier to explain if I had a book with me."

let's hope sandry dosn't screw this up then lol

"You how sometimes berries stain your fingers? Ink stains paper."

"No. Ink absolutely does not taste good."

Said like someone who has actually tried it.

"Mmmmm, generally getting a book wet won't cause the ink to fade, but the pages will wrinkle and that can make it difficult to read. And wet books are easier to damage."

"Oh, ink doesn't grow on a plant. It's man-made. Sandry tried to think if she'd ever heard what ink was made from, but she drew a blank. "I have no idea how they make it though."

"Well, I know some fairy tales," Sandry said. "But I'm not very good at remembering long stories."
uvumi: (hey you're smiling again)

[personal profile] uvumi 2015-09-18 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
Sandry shifts about in her brain, trying to pick a fairy tale that's not too long, as she has no confidence in her storytelling abilities.

"The stars? I... I don't stay outside that late."

Because it gets dark.
