No I doubt you would. At least here you're allowed to learn a little from the medical staff and things like that.

He nodded. "When they are willing to teach me, yeah. I kind of got off on the wrong foot with one of them," he said. Was that a bad joke about his lameness, or... wasn't it? Hard to tell since he was keeping a straight face for once.

[She notices and kind of enjoys his ability to poke fun at himself] Why is that?

"He apparently favors doing things exactly so, over being done quickly."

I can see that being an important thing. What happens if things heal in the wrong way because you rushed something?

[gregorydeegan]

He scowled a bit. "All the adults here seem to side with him," he muttered.

[she smiles at him]

If you take the time to think about what he's saying it makes sense. The body needs to heal right. Otherwise you could end up with permanent side effects.

"I can heal people really quickly, there's no reason to leave people in pain."

Yes but if something heals wrong?

[she moves her jaw side to side giving off an audible popping and cracking sound as it moves]

Do you know how hard it is to keep a girlfriend when eating anything sounds like you are chewing on rocks?

"How could it heal wrong? It just... heals. Like magic."

[She shakes her head]Things aren't always that simple. I wish they were, but some things need to heal a certain way.

[gregorydeegan]

He huffed a bit as he walked. Adults here kept giving him the same answer, but he healed people just fine back home.

Okay, so there was that mistake when Taggerty ticked him off... And he did want to learn Pa.... the normal way to heal people so he could help with people like Dex...

But... he was tired of feeling like everyone here thought he had no worth. Just the lame kid with the bad jokes.

[Oulan noticed the shift as his mood dropped]

Sorry, I didn't mean to hit a sore spot. But think about how much better your healing will be once you learn more about how the body works?

"Yeah. I guess. I know. I just want to help people. The sooner I can help people, the more people I can help..."

Your heart is in the right place. I know I feel similar about my work. Just keep working on it and you'll get there.

[gregorydeegan]

"Thanks," he said, making himself act more cheerful. Fool everyone else, fool himself. He liked to stay upbeat, to keep others upbeat and happy.

Seriously kid, keep working at it and getting better. If you'd like I can recommend some books for you.

"I'd appreciate it, thank you," he said, heading to show her the gym.

[As they enter the gym all she can think is that she's a little jealous of these kids]

I wish I had anything near this nice when I was in High School.

"Well... you have it now, at least," he said with a warm smile. "We're always looking for faculty to train with too."

[flamingfists]

You can bet I'll be taking advantage of that. [She smiles] Whip some of you kids into shape.

[gregorydeegan]

"MY x-team could use some help!" He said happily.

[flamingfists]

Oh? [She looks at him] I'd be happy to teach you a thing or two to protect yourself. Your team though? I'd have to meet them.

[gregorydeegan]

"I'll introduce you. As soon as I meet them myself," he said with a grin.
