Reimu tried to bite back his next remark, but... it slipped out anyways.

"And for as good at hearing as you are, you aren't that great at listening. The point is, he's not a boogie man waiting to get you. Treating him like one is only going to cause you problems."

"No, he's just a psychopath that likes hurting people for money. He's not the monster that I should be afraid of, how about that Registration Act then? Is that a good enough monster?"

The words Registration Act echoed well beyond the bit of hallway the two of them were in, because Maya was that mad at Reimu's tone. Treating her like a child, again, only this time it was worse because she still was one. Not that it did her much good. Whatever fear she was reacting to before has been drowned out by raw anger.

"How about the sports news then? I can hear that too. That being a mutant means that you're cheating at whatever you're good at. Pretty much kills my chances for a future. A sound manipulator can't actually play her instruments, she's just making them hear what she wants them too. Of course, I'll never get that far, between the registration act and the people that want to kill us. Maybe another Omega will blow up and I'll wake up in a thousand years and they'll still be trying to kill or tag us like wild animals."

"Don't follow me." With that Maya gave him one last defiant glare, made even more effective since her lips didn't move before turning on her heel and running to be anywhere but here.

He wasn't going to follow her. He knew that much would cross a line. But he still had something to say, whether she muted him or not.

"Then keep being afraid! See what a great life that is! I'll be on the other side actually DOING something about it!" And just like her, he turned on heel to storm off, angry at both the argument, the news, and having been awake since 4am.
