A Sinister Legacy [PART 2] [OPEN]

WHO: Students and faculty of the Institute, plus some unfortunate SHIELD agents caught in the crossfire
WHAT: Sinster did something, ah... sinister... to Martha, and now the school security systems are attacking anyone and everyone that might interfere with his um... sinister... plans.
WHERE: The Institute
WHEN: STILL ON THE 25TH. TRUST US.
WARNING(S): Violence hooooo

As a reminder, there are THREE ways to be involved with this event:

1. Help the SHIELD agents on the front lawn survive against the school security systems! This will be combat heavy and will involve NPC assists from Nick Fury

2. Help protect other students, and those who can't fight, get to safe places! Not every section of the school is as automated as others and there are places that Sinister's infection of the security systems hasn't reached. This can be combat heavy or not at all, and will involve NPC assists from Storm

3. HELLIONS your girl No Girl needs help. Also the Professor and Logan. Your job is to head to the sublevels and break in to the most heavily secured area of the school and stop whatever is causing things to go haywire, and possibly stop Sinister himself from whatever he has planned. As usual, you will be assisted by Emma.

"Nn... are we... safe now?" Kagerou was only barely aware of her surroundings, her consciousness struggling against blacking out from the pain she was in.

Two at a time... shit... were they even going to have that much time? Bridget set off another one of the explosive charges on the yoyo, blasting back the encroaching metal terrors. But he only had two left, having used some before meeting with his teammates...

"We're not getting shot at anymore..."

She's trying to make a kind of makeshift bandage, trying to stop any bleeding...

"Kagerou! Stay with me..."

Kanji's face is grim, glancing across: he's spread-firing his current blasts, now, trying to catch as many of the turrets as he can in one go and grabbing charge out of any turrets that Bridget's disabled.

"C'mon, you heard her, move!"

She could take more and, if it came down to it, she might have to, but she also didn't want to risk accidentally unphasing someone while their foot was still in the door. Grabbing the closest students, she yanked them through the door, letting them go only when she was sure they were clear. Then she reached through the grab the next two.

[Gilberte had been strictly forbidden to use the more massive, damaging aspects of her power, considering the... incident before she'd been brought to the school. In training, she'd been allowed to use insects, but outside of training, she had only been able to make slight changes, not her monsters. She loved her monsters.

And bigger was better! She preferred larger gestures.

She was caught up in her enjoyment, but she glanced up at the familiar sound of Flandre's voice. She raised a hand as the monster writhed around her, enormous and dangerous. Gilberte didn't appear worried, though. She smiled and waved.]

Oui! Il est beau, n'est-ce pas?

[Really, only Gilberte or someone seriously strange would call the monster beautiful, but that is her opinion.]

[With Kurt gone, it was up to the rest of them to make sure that nothing else would get through. Easier said than done? Most likely, especially with how things were looking.]

Heads up.

[Right on queue, turrets and defenses started to come out to take aim at the Hellions.]

[She has a stern look on her face.]

Take the kids, get them to a safe place.

[...well, it wasn't particularly pretty to her, but a voice she recognized had answered. And the tree...squid thing wasn't lunching this way specifically, so at least she didn't have to worry about that quite yet.

Whatever Flandre's answer would have been was interrupted by the turret swinging around unexpectedly and smacking her face into the metal. It wasn't that bad of an injury--but it was profoundly irritating enough to warrant a snarl in reply.

Enough waiting.

Flandre's claws sprang free of the metal with one hand, only to reach up and sink into the top panel of the gun instead. She wrenched her arm backwards--and pulled away the metal with a horrible shriek, peeling the armor away like it was foil. The damage didn't slow the turret down--it couldn't feel pain, of course--so she still had work to do. The rifle barrel itself was exposed now, along with coolant tubes and wiring. The barrel was warm to the touch, but no longer burned. Flandre's claws came down on it next, first crumpling the barrel to prevent it from firing cleanly--then tearing the wiring out entirely, cutting out its targeting system. They still sparked when she grabbed them, like a bundle of brightly colored nerves.]

"But I really need a nap...," Kagerou whined, but Kaguya's panic was enough to keep her going, at least a little longer.

"We can buy... maybe three more minutes! You gotta hurry!" Bridget shouted back past the noise. Was he crazy, or were the turrets repairing themselves? Their didn't seem to be any end to them, more popping up each time.

"I don't think that's a good idea..."

If only she had a power that could heal or stop the bleeding...

"Ugh— You two go ahead, I'm going to make sure she doesn't get herself killed!"

Rin didn't give them time to argue with her, either, immediately springing in the direction Kagerou had gone. She trusted Liir and Kaede to take care of themselves, but Kagerou... Whatever had sent her tearing in the other direction, Rin's gut told her she wasn't going to be as careful as she should be.

[mouflon]

"What are you waiting for? Get her clothes off!"

And who should come running but Rin, snapping orders the moment she was in earshot. Immediately dropping to her knees as she reached Kagerou's side, she whipped her own shirt over her head, beginning to shred it without a moment's hesitation. Ideally, she'd have a set of bandages ready to apply as soon as Kaguya did as told...

"Kagerou, if you pass out now, there's a chance you won't wake back up. So don't you dare, you hear me?!"

[Right. So they'd let Nightcrawler deal with it - oh and that was so cool one of the established X-Men doing something amazing, before Nora heard Raven speak, and turned around.

A cackle started to form on her lips.]

... Oh man, here we go~! Noooooraaaaa..... [And she winds up with her hammer, slamming down the hallway toward the nearest turret... and promptly knocking its block off so hard it smashes into a turret behind it.] SMASH!

I knew there was a reason I liked you guys. [She only hoped they could keep this up... Kurt didn't have a lot of time before even the Hellions would be overwhelmed.]

"Must you be so loud...," Kagerou groaned. She was in a bizarre state of shock, where the pain had crescendo'd and she wasn't certain she was even feeling it any more, but the way they were shredding up those makeshift bandages told her she definitely hadn't miraculously healed.

"Well, if you know what to do..."
She didn't particularly like Rin, but she could trust her to help Kagerou. And do a better job of it.

[mouflon]

"If you didn't want me to yell, maybe you shouldn't have gotten yourself shot!"

So... Yes, apparently. The moment Kagerou's wounds had been properly exposed, Rin set to work, wrapping the strips her own shirt had been torn into around her torso. What she wouldn't give to have a tourniquet right now—but she didn't have anything on her that could provide the necessary support, and venturing closer to the school building wasn't exactly an option in these circumstances. She would just have to make do with what she had, tying each band of cloth firmly into place.

[That gets a smile out of Eddie, who is joining Nora in trashing whatever he can before it gets worse.]

[And there goes another turret.]

"How... bad is it?" They had certainly felt bad when she got them. She'd been losing track of the number of times she'd been hit or grazed.

"It looked really bad there..." Kaguya wasn't sure she could make it without someone that knew what they were doing around.

((Sorry.... I totally dropped the ball on this.))

Catherine eyed her for a second. "What are you do--." Ah... the boy stirred. Good. That fact alone meant that there might have been time to save him. Whatever else was going on? Could wait. Though she suspected that Alex was doing something to get them through.

Doubt clearing from her head, she turned her attention to Alex. "Yeah. I think there's lots of folks needing help. I'm going to break ahead. Maybe take a few of those shots off of yah." In the next instant her body took on a metallic hue. Some of the blasts were going to hurt, she knew, but a few of the physical ones would bounce right off of her, right? Hopefully.

Just a corner and a block to go, she kept reminding herself.

"Bad enough. We'll get you to the infirmary once things calm down." Her shirt had made enough bandages to wrap Kagerou's back securely, but...

"Kaguya, hand me Kagerou's shirt." Most of it was probably too torn and bloody to be useable, but if they needed a second layer, something was better than nothing. That, and Rin hated having nothing to do but wait.

"Meet us down there if you get her out." Liir said, taking off towards the doors in a frantic scurry. Hopefully Kaede could hold them open with her vectors.

From behind him, he could hear the SHIELD grunts go down. Guilty-not-guilty satisfaction bloomed in him.
