When it Rains, it Pours

"...reported sightings of the fugitive mutant supremacist leader Claudine Renko remain unsubstantiated. A S.H.I.E.L.D. spokesperson assured the press that all plausible leads are being investigated, but declined to comment on her most likely whereabouts. Anonymous sources have sent News 10 the following photos, showing Renko or someone bearing a strong resemblance to her in a Mexico City cafe, and later in an airport near Cape Town, South Africa, leading to widespread speculation that she's on her way to Genosha. Anyone with knowledge of her whereabouts is again encouraged to contact..."

"...team of medical experts working alongside the Xavier Institute's Henry McCoy have put forth that the disease exclusively affects people with active X-genes -- in other words, mutants. While it has continued to spread like wildfire through District X and other mutant enclaves, no related cases have been confirmed among baseline humans. With the death toll at home rising and new cases beginning to be reported around the world, a travel advisory has been put out discouraging mutants from traveling overseas in hopes of slowing the disease's spread..."

"...Travel restrictions to the notoriously closed-off country of Genosha have been tightened even further in light of the mysterious virus affecting mutants around the world. In a personal statement, Magneto stressed that since the concentrated mutant population in Genosha puts them at greater risk from this disease, 'measures must be taken to prevent any contamination within Genosha's borders'. Many high-ranking Genoshan diplomats have gone further and offered their condolences to the families affected by the disease, as well as applauding President Kelly's executive decision to channel funding towards treatment and research of the disease. A number of Genoshan doctors and scientists have left the country to collaborate with the researchers studying the virus..."

"...vigils held around the country this weekend in memory of the virus's victims..."

"...meteorologists scratching their heads about the sudden storm near an Appalachian town in southern Virginia last week, where record levels of rainfall caused flash flooding and mudslides. Other nearby towns were completely unaffected, and experts say that the prevailing weather conditions don't line up with such a dramatic downpour..."

"...Senator Graydon Creed appealed to his major constituents during last night's primary debate with his usual hard line on social issues and mutants in particular. However, businessman Norman Osbourne has risen in the polls after claiming that Creed's proposed policies, including the Mutant Registration bill being debated in the House, don't go far enough. Osbourne promised that, if elected, he'll introduce legislation aimed at deporting all mutant foreign nationals to their home countries, drawing applause from the debate's live audience and an outcry from leaders of the mutant refugee community..."

That nickname...if it were anyone besides Kisume, she wouldn't allow it. She thinks of her as something like a cat, prone to disappearing but also attracted to warmth and petting.

"It means to send someone back to their home country. But don't worry, noone's sending you anywhere."
droppedbucket: (I don't understand.)

She was at least careful about using it. Say it once or twice and then keep it to herself once more. Going to uncurl and lean against Reki now.

"Home...back with clan? But they want me here."

Of course, who really knew where they'd send Kisume...since she's not exactly registered. Either way, it has her worried...sort of.

"Promise? Want stay. Make everyone proud."

"This...would probably be easier if I showed you."

She removed her sketchpad from its place holstered in her sleeve with a flick of her forearm and began drawing. What emerged was a little play, with a map of the world, Japan and the USA both with cartoon fences around them. A stick figure tried to hop from the former to the latter but was stopped by a cop stick figure. Then the stick figure began to glow angrily. A stick figure Professor X got between them, and mind-blasted the cop until he fell over with little hashmarks around his head. The stick figure immigrant and Proffesor X hugged. The end.

A mixture of intent watching and giggling ensues at this point. Although the meaning was understood as understanding shown in her eyes and left her quiet for a moment.

"Bad people still not like us. Not want us. Make hard to be here. Not want Professor hurt or sad..."
griot: (yeah you know)

Viti sat on the couch with his arms crossed, and head stooped, stewing in his bitter thoughts. Politics, the virus, people, he hated them all, but he knew that if he hated too much it could activate his power to overload his brain. The 13 year boy griped his forehead, wracking his brain for something to make him happy until finally...

...he looked up.

He saw the rumbled clothes, and the ragged green hair. Slowly, his smile grew and his eyes light up.

"Kisume!" He shouted as he lepted off the couch. He ran to her, his shoes pounding the floor, but then he stopped. He remembered he had to be in control, or else. His eyes pointed to the floor.

"Kisume. It's good to see you again."

Viti put all his weight on one foot, so he could move the other in short circles as a kind of nervous habit.

"In fact you're the only good thing I seen all day." He cringed. His statement sounded better in his head.

Reki, a naturally quiet person, wrinkled her nose a bit at the noise. She looked up from her macbook at the source of the noise. A boy about Kisume's age. Clearly happy to see her. Maybe a bit too happy. Well then. Was he in her class?

"Friend of yours?" She said to Kisume, regarding Viti with a sideways glance but a slight smile.

And someone is slightly oblivious to much although there is a hint of a blush on her cheeks. She may not understand fully but she has a hint.

"Yes, I know Viti. He has..um..."

Give her a moment while she tries to remember the english word. It isn't long before she grins as she speaks, hoping she had the right word.

"He has dragon!"
griot: (hmm?)

[personal profile] griot 2015-08-16 12:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Viti picked his head up. "Yes. A dragon. It's right over there." Viti waved his hand to a clear plastic tank with a handle, sitting on the couch. The monitor lizard in it looked to the humans, flicked its tongues then looked away.

"Well technically it's a close relative of a Komodo dragon, but yeah close enough."

Viti looked up to Reki.

"Are you one of Kisume's Morlock friends?"

"I've spent some time among the Morlocks."

A...dragon? Did she mean he was one, like Aelric?

"Oh, a lizard. Is he friendly?"

She said that of the dragon but while looking at Viti.

Okay..this is strange. Kisume looks between Reki and Viti for a moment before continuing on. She wasn't quite sure why suddenly it felt strange but..

"Yes! Lizard likes people."

And at this point she waves to the lizard with a grin. Pulling her legs under her for the time being.

The long, slender, lizard pressed its front feet to the tank flickering its tongue in Kisume's direction, out of its arrow shaped snout. It tried to scratch its way out, but to no avail.

Viti formed a scowl. "Oh that lizard is a pain. It's constantly trying to extend out of its cage, it's so incredibly Hard to hold, and when it gets real mad it spits white flem out at me. Plus, last time it went after Kisume." Viti shook his head.

"It's a good thing I stopped it, because, look what it did to my hand." Viti showed Reki the lattice work of scars on he back of his right hand.

Viti growled, but then he smiled. He leaned closer to Kisume. "So how have you been?"

Reki's eyes narrowed at the monitor lizard and she practically growled herself at the idea that any creature might try to hurt Kisume...even though logically she knew that it was probably (justifiably) afraid of her eating it.

"Ouch. Is it a science fair project then? An experiment?" Her words were again about the lizard but her eyes on them.
