"...reported sightings of the fugitive mutant supremacist leader Claudine Renko remain unsubstantiated. A S.H.I.E.L.D. spokesperson assured the press that all plausible leads are being investigated, but declined to comment on her most likely whereabouts. Anonymous sources have sent News 10 the following photos, showing Renko or someone bearing a strong resemblance to her in a Mexico City cafe, and later in an airport near Cape Town, South Africa, leading to widespread speculation that she's on her way to Genosha. Anyone with knowledge of her whereabouts is again encouraged to contact...""...team of medical experts working alongside the Xavier Institute's Henry McCoy have put forth that the disease exclusively affects people with active X-genes -- in other words, mutants. While it has continued to spread like wildfire through District X and other mutant enclaves, no related cases have been confirmed among baseline humans. With the death toll at home rising and new cases beginning to be reported around the world, a travel advisory has been put out discouraging mutants from traveling overseas in hopes of slowing the disease's spread...""...Travel restrictions to the notoriously closed-off country of Genosha have been tightened even further in light of the mysterious virus affecting mutants around the world. In a personal statement, Magneto stressed that since the concentrated mutant population in Genosha puts them at greater risk from this disease, 'measures must be taken to prevent any contamination within Genosha's borders'. Many high-ranking Genoshan diplomats have gone further and offered their condolences to the families affected by the disease, as well as applauding President Kelly's executive decision to channel funding towards treatment and research of the disease. A number of Genoshan doctors and scientists have left the country to collaborate with the researchers studying the virus...""...vigils held around the country this weekend in memory of the virus's victims...""...meteorologists scratching their heads about the sudden storm near an Appalachian town in southern Virginia last week, where record levels of rainfall caused flash flooding and mudslides. Other nearby towns were completely unaffected, and experts say that the prevailing weather conditions don't line up with such a dramatic downpour...""...Senator Graydon Creed appealed to his major constituents during last night's primary debate with his usual hard line on social issues and mutants in particular. However, businessman Norman Osbourne has risen in the polls after claiming that Creed's proposed policies, including the Mutant Registration bill being debated in the House, don't go far enough. Osbourne promised that, if elected, he'll introduce legislation aimed at deporting all mutant foreign nationals to their home countries, drawing applause from the debate's live audience and an outcry from leaders of the mutant refugee community..."

[Storm]
"...And what was she doing down there?"
[Osbourne]
"Never thought I'd live to see the day Creed got outflanked on the right..."
Osbourne
"Pidgeon...what deport?"
no subject
"It means to send someone back to their home country. But don't worry, noone's sending you anywhere."

[Vigil]
"I seriously doubt many humans are mourning our brothers and sisters."
[Osbourne]
"The fuck is this asshat on?"
[Renko]
"Thank G-d she's safe."
[ osbourne ]
Alex had gone even paler than he already was during the remarks about Osbourne. If this Osbourne guy got elected, he was screwed. Even if Jones had promised to let him go, there were plenty of other people in England that would happily try to use him.
"They can send me back over my dead body," he snarled. And then he coughed, and coughed until he was forced to drink half a bottle of water. "Then again, that might end up what happens anyway. And in that case they're welcome to it."

Something about Osbourne bugged him. He was sure that he met him at some point. When he was younger. But he couldn't place where he might have met him. After a moment he stopped trying to think of it, and turned his attention to Alex. He studied the sick boy with a frown.
"Something tells me Osbourne is talking shit to get attention. I doubt he actually cares about mutants one way or the other." He hated humans, some more than others. Osbourne was the type he hated but could respect. Those who could manipulate the fearful sheep.

"I tried, dammit," he grumbled. I tried.
The lizard flicked its tongue. It's thoughts were also elsewhere.

Shulk stumbled by, still caught up in his own research with the whole disease. His mind had been stuck there as he tried his best to do something. But when he caught sight of Viti, he fumbled around in his side bag, groping for something.
"I have something for you!"
no subject
"It's good to see you. Have you been recruited to help fight the disease? If so I might have something for you too."
Viti picked up the plastic tank with the Nile monitor lizard. The lizard tilted it's head to get a better look at Shulk then looked away.

"While I would like to see my family again, that isn't what I had in mind."
The travel advisory was actually getting to her far more than that might suggest; she had been putting off visiting home for so long because of one crisis piling onto another and another--and now look what happened.
Flandre had been listlessly thumbing through her phone, sitting in the library's atrium but not reading anything.
no subject
"Hey there, are you alright?"
no subject
Flandre looked up, thumb claw still hovering over the screen. She felt momentarily guilty at not having any books in front of her, but she didn't want to make anyone's workload worse. There was enough to be done.
"Oh--I'm fine, really. Just...worried. But I think everyone is."

Meiling sits down, a slightly worried smile crossing her face.
"I mean..first thing to say would probably not be, 'Hi..they kicked me out of the country because of things.' Not exactly the best starter huh?"
She's not even sure of what to say if it happens. Because honestly? This was not exactly the best thing.
no subject
"Would you at least have a place to go? I mean, if that...happened." Which she hoped did not. Ever.

It seemed absurd to him that politicians such as Osbourne and Creed only thought about specific groups and not how their policies might affect others as well with the ripples any legislation or proposals could cause.
no subject
"And just when I thought people couldn't say nastier things than Mr Creed has. What if they left their home countries because they were in danger there? It'd be cruel to send them back."
