A SINISTER LEGACY [PART 4] - The escape.
Who: The Sick and the doctors
What: The sick plan an escape to search for a cure before it kills Nightcrawler
Where: Medical Quarantine and the docks
Warnings: Violence
Notes: Part one of the series
[It's nighttime on the 22nd, the plot is set, the day has come. It was finally time to break out, to find answers. To find a cure. They wouldn't find anything sitting here. Henry had found nothing while Kurt was getting worse, his flesh beginning to turn from blue to a boiling shade of red. He had know he didn't have much time. He knew it would take a miracle to survive much longer.
Lying in his medical bed with Flik next to him his tail flicks to the side, giving the signal that it was time to begin.
Seconds later, Flik charges straight for Zancrow, screaming at the top of his lungs and as soon as he does, Kurt bamfs from his table, appearing right next to the first person he's getting ready to teleport out.]

...yes.
[Kaede's mind was awfully pink right now.]
no subject
Do you know why she does it?
no subject
[There was some indistinct mumbling before and after she answered.]
no subject
no subject
Did you want her to grab your chest?
no subject
I-I didn't say that!
[There's not much to grab there anyway.]
no subject
...that reaction was kind of funny, though.]
What, you did?
[She started to cough again, lightly. It sort of sounded like giggling.
...or just coughing, which is what it genuinely tuned into for a moment.]
no subject
[She frowns. Not funny, Kaede!]
[...But once it becomes clear she's actually coughing, she reaches out to pat her on the back all the same.]
no subject
She took another drink of water when she got control over her own breathing again. Then she spent a long moment staring out at the harbor, puzzling out what lights went where.
Maybe time to change the subject.]
Didn't want to die in a cage either, huh?
no subject
...I don't know about a cage. But I didn't want to die doing nothing.
[Nothing about a quiet, passive death is worth admiring.]
no subject
[Not everyone was like that, of course; some were perfectly nice, and most professionally indifferent. But it only took a few to turn Kaede's thoughts to smoldering anger again.]
...she didn't either, I think. If how I woke up means anything.
[Besides a stream of expletives.]
no subject
I know it was like that, a bit. I just don't know if the 'cage' part is what would have bothered me about dying there.
no subject
[Or, yanno, a really morbid one.
Seriously Kaede.]
no subject
[It's not the morbidity of the thought. She really doesn't mind it.]
[But the visual nature of it, the focus on image...]
[It's a little too close to her thoughts, a little too true on a little too personal of a level, and feeling like Kaede has noticed that shameful urge she has to play the perfect martyr, there's terrified guilt written all over her face.]
no subject
So Krista's silence was...strange.
As was the continued silence. Usually she would have said something by now.
Kaede turned to look at her (was Krista hurt?), and--what a curious expression on her face.
Hm.]
Don't like it?
no subject
[Krista smiles, bent on covering her tracks.]
It's just sad to think of.
no subject
[There's a sarcastic drawl and a note of suspicion in her voice. Krista got so...slippery whenever Kaede mentioned anything like this.]
no subject
no subject
[She kept skittering around. What was Krista hiding this time?]
no subject
no subject
Gently, but she did.]
You keep doing that when you don't want to answer something.
no subject
no subject
How long are you going to keep doing that, Krista?
