"... sweeping victories in both the House and Senate. Creed and his fellow Last Stand congressmen celebrated today, eager to begin the new legislation they promised in their collective campaign. Senator Creed enthusiastically exclaimed that the era of letting mutants go unchecked were finally going to come to an end..."

"... calling themselves the 'Mutant Liberation Front', or MLF, the campaign of vandalism and propaganda has been extensive in Europe and has started to appear in the United States and Canada as well. The MLF are most recognized by their tag sign of the double helix, along with the word LIBERATE. Most authorities are not incredibly concerned, as the group has been non-violent so far..."

"... as talks have broken down with Genosha. A special ambassador from the United States has been assigned to speak with Genosha on behalf of the US government, Gabrielle Haller, has stated that she will ensure that peace between the two nations will be assured. [Caelius notices the wariness, and he isn't sure how to respond to it. He doesn't think he's done anything to warrant it, after all! For a moment, his brow creases in bemusement, but rather than commenting, he offers a polite smile in return.]

Oh? I thought mutants were all supposed to be in this secret cabal together. That's what some people would have you believe, anyway.

[He isn't always entirely sure who knows about him, and he hates talking to counselors. Talking about his feelings and stuff. It's the worst! But when Caelius' reaction seems normal enough, Adachi relaxes.]

Yeah right. They sure don't know us, do they? You can't get any two mutants to agree that water is wet.

But if there is a cabal, they need to let me know. And let me in. So I can show them how it's done.

Well, maybe in Genosha.

[But probably not.]

I'm not sure what changing the weather would even accomplish. Surely there are more direct ways of pushing the mutant agenda.

[He's been taking a joking tone, but now he sighs again. Winter is terrible and he hates it.]

Haha, Genosha, that's a good one!

[Why Adachi thinks this is funny is anyone's guess, but he laughs as if at a good joke.]

Changing the weather could accomplish a lot, if you did your PR right. You could get gratitude, power. Or you could charge people to make it sunny on their wedding day, things like that. You could really make a lot of money that way! This way, it's just going to make people complain.

[Like Adachi! Adachi doesn't hate winter so much as he likes to complain. Also, he doesn't have a cool coat. He's not allowed to leave campus to shop, and he doesn't have much money. Life is hard.]

[...

Um.]

Wow. I'm not sure if I'm impressed or worried, to be honest. [Though he doesn't mean anything bad by that. He was just taken aback by the thoroughness of his answer!] Have you been thinking about this?

[personal profile] denialism 2014-11-13 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
Huh? No, that all just came out when I started thinking about it.

[He actually hadn't thought about it until it was just brought up.]

You could say I have an active imagination! It's not like I can change the weather.

Well, I guess everyone should count themselves lucky for that. Count me impressed, then, I guess.

If I made the weather, I'd actually make it really nice, because I hate the cold and wet. I also hate droughts, though. So I'd make some effort to have a good climate. I'd only be screwing myself over too, otherwise!
