Club Week! [OPEN]

WHAT: Club Week is underway, and now we have booths set up for people to really recruit and get their ideas out there. Several NPC clubs have been set up as well. Plus, once again, if you want to get in on some X-Men team building, now's a great time for it.

It's about halfway into the second week of school. People are already starting to form friendships, build social circles, and embrace student life on the Xavier campus. The faculty has set up several booths in the foyer after normal classes on Wednesday in order for students to centralize recruiting for their various interest groups. Some familiar names pop up, of course. "Anime Club", "Chess Club", "AV Club", "Soccer Club", "Glee Club", "GSA Club", "Bible Study Club" and others. It's a pretty inclusive school, after all, so why not have a broad representation of interests?

As classes let out, students are encouraged to look around, get involved, and otherwise put forth the foundation of their social lives for the school year. And of course, there's always people looking to put together teams for other purposes, too...

[His kouhai's enthusiasm is going to drive everyone away.

Tenma can feel Shindou's eyes constantly on him, but he doesn't mind. Frankly, he's used to it. After a while, he kicks the ball straight up into the air and catches it during its descent.]

Senpai, do you want to switch?

Ah, would you like to?

[Shindou goes ahead and pushes back his chair, standing up. Tenma's been at it a while, while he's just been hanging around, so that seems fair.]

My power can't put on the same kind of show as yours, but I can still juggle for a bit...

I think it's a good idea to show off everyone's skills! There are all kinds of people, and all kinds of soccer.

[He holds out the soccer ball to Shindou, with that giant smile plastered on his face. How can anyone say no to that?]

[Well, Shindou has tried before, and it's never worked. So, this time he doesn't even bother, taking the soccer ball from Tenma and moving around to the front of the table.

He'll start by juggling it between his feet for a few bounces to warm up, before launching into something a little showier -- working it steadily up each side of his body without ever letting it drop, from left foot to right to left knee to right, all the way up until he's bopping it with each shoulder and then finally his head.

In the end, he lets the ball fall back down to his feet and takes to knocking it up in the air with one leg while the other circles overtop it mid-ascent. He has to try to show off a little, since he can't exactly set it on fire with his mind!]

Alright, alright -- just make sure you get an e-mail from anyone who wants to sign up, alright?

[He's not sure he trusts you not to just gush at them about their favorite teams or something, Tenma...]

[He's paying attention to people passing and getting emails! But for the most part, he's watching Shindou's movements.

Shindou was so much more graceful than anyone he had ever known. He knew some people with fancy footwork, but they were leagues behind his senpai. Shindou's soccer was always commanding but so fluid, like a conductors baton...

Tenma looked down at the roster and frowned. Why was his own name listed as captain? Shindou was much better suited for the role.]

[Shindou keeps up the show for a good while, cycling through a few different tricks a few times before slowly starting to wind down. Eventually, the after-class crowd has mostly started to trickle back to the dorms and other parts of the Mansion, so that he doesn't feel back about knocking the ball back into the air and catching it with both hands.

When he turns back around to hand it off to Tenma, though, the look on the midfielder's face gives him pause.]

Is everything alright? Did someone start writing down fake names or something?

[soccerwhisperer]

[He absentmindedly takes the ball, gently placing it on top of the table.]

N--No. It's just, you have me listed as the captain.

[presto_turn]

Oh. Right.

Is that not alright? I thought it made the most sense. You were captain for our championship at Raimon, after all.

[He pauses for a moment, then reaches over to put a hand on Tenma's shoulder.]

Things are different here, but I think you'll be able to motivate everyone the same as you did then.

[soccerwhisperer]

But you were the captain who brought us there! Without you, practices fell apart...

[Even with Shindou's reassurance, he can't seem to shake the feeling off.]

I don't think I'll be as good of a leader as you.

[presto_turn]

Tenma --

There wouldn't have been a team left at Raimon in the first place, if you hadn't been there. I know I wouldn't have found a reason to keep playing.

[Tugging his kouhai a bit closer, now, and fixing him with a firm look. He didn't hang around with that crime against arts-and-crafts sign all afternoon just to end up with a depressed Tenma, gosh!]

See how it goes for a few weeks, as a favor to me? Once we find a coach, it'll become partly their decision, but for now...you're the one I feel best about leading the club.

[soccerwhisperer]

[Tenma nods, with a small pout on his face. But he looks up at Shindou pleadingly.]

Will you still help out?

[presto_turn]

Of course. You don't have to handle anything by yourself, Tenma.

[Shindou lets him go, finally, before bending to pick up some of the books and sign-up sheets they'd collected from the table.]

Just let me know what you want me to do, or if you have questions about anything.

Okay! I can't wait until we get to play soccer with all these new faces!

[This immediately cheers Tenma up. He helps Shindou gather up everything. Noticing how there are bugs and dirt on his sign, Tenma picks it up and gently bangs it against the table. There is an immediate shower of glitter.]

[presto_turn]

Mn, our first practice should be exciting --

[If they don't all choke to death in a glitter-storm first?? Shindou takes a hasty step back as the sign attempts to attack, holding his hands up to try and warn Tenma off of a second shake.]

Careful, I don't think it's holding up that well. Maybe we should just leave it...

[It is too late for the table now. It will sparkle forever.]

[soccerwhisperer]

[Tenma, who had been in the direct path of the glitter cloud, is now covered in gold and blue sparkles. He coughs before he speaks.]

B--But my sign...

[presto_turn]

I think we already gave everyone a good chance to see it...

[Which is not exactly an unequivocal positive, but the thing was hard to miss, at least! Shindou might be visibly struggling not to laugh at this point. Just maybe.]

You might want to go shower before dinner, you...got some of it on you...

[Like, kind of just...everywhere?? Crap, he's outright giggling now.]

I worked really hard on that sign...

[He seems really hung up on the sign, but seeing Shindou laugh puts a smile on his face too. It was a little funny, being covered in glitter. He suddenly gets an idea.]

You have some on you too!

[Tenma doesn't even give Shindou a chance to respond. Using his psychokinesis, he lifts the sign up and over Shindou's head, giving it a good shake over his senpai. Not... much rains down, but it's enough to be noticable]

[presto_turn]

Wait, Tenma...!

[Too late. Shindou tries to back up and shield himself by jerking his hands over his head, but Tenma gets the drop on him by pulling the sign up with his powers.

And, aaaaghhhh, it's all in his hair! He looks like some ridiculous pop-star with a horrible make-up adviser now. Trying to brush it out just gets his nails glittery, too.]

I guess we both need to wash, now...

[This is less funny, but he sticks with a rueful, amused grin over at his kouhai. Remind him to just pay to get a banner made next time, okay??]

[Tenma laughs and pats Shindou on the back, putting even more glitter on him]

Let's hit the showers then!
