Club Week! [OPEN]
WHO: Everyone!
WHAT: Club Week is underway, and now we have booths set up for people to really recruit and get their ideas out there. Several NPC clubs have been set up as well. Plus, once again, if you want to get in on some X-Men team building, now's a great time for it.
WHERE: The school foyer
WHEN: Wednesday after classes
WARNING(S): None. If threads go into warning territory, please make a new post for their continuation
It's about halfway into the second week of school. People are already starting to form friendships, build social circles, and embrace student life on the Xavier campus. The faculty has set up several booths in the foyer after normal classes on Wednesday in order for students to centralize recruiting for their various interest groups. Some familiar names pop up, of course. "Anime Club", "Chess Club", "AV Club", "Soccer Club", "Glee Club", "GSA Club", "Bible Study Club" and others. It's a pretty inclusive school, after all, so why not have a broad representation of interests?
As classes let out, students are encouraged to look around, get involved, and otherwise put forth the foundation of their social lives for the school year. And of course, there's always people looking to put together teams for other purposes, too...
[[ ooc: Feel free to make top levels for your own groups, or just post open top levels with no specific group in mind ]]

All the same, it catches his attention as he heads back towards the soccer team's table after a break, and he steps closer, looking rather uncertain with a little mug of black tea steeping in one hand. He hadn't intended to think about this today.]
Were you looking for teammates with specific types of powers? If you had something in mind for what its focus would be, I mean.
[He asks, once Arturia's finished her introduction. Some of the more cohesive teams he remembers from before stasis had that kind of established specialty, so it bears checking before he considers. Even if his own former trainee group had been more of a wild hodgepodge.]

My interests lie in the realm of search and rescue with the ability for extraction. Some mutant abilities are more suited to that than others, but a leader will find unusual yet effective ways to complete the task at hand while minimizing risk.
That is why I will not make any final decisions regarding the makeup of this team until I have had time to analyze the various combinations.

["Uncertain" would be the best word for the look hanging on Shindou's face. Arturia certainly comes off as serious enough...? And she's a senior, so hopefully she's as adjusted to what being in action at the school means as she sounds, he supposes.
It's an off-putting thing to try to judge, though. He shrugs uncomfortably.]
I'm only in my second year of high school, but I was part of a trainee group as a freshman. Principal Summers' team, before the Sentinel attack on the school.
I plan on sticking with it, so if you still need teammates after today...

[Saber understood that some students wouldn't be able to do such a thing afterward. Sometimes the rude awakenings to reality leave scars that couldn't be healed.]
Will you tell me more about yourself?

I have some mission experience already. When Senator Kelly was kidnapped, before he became President, I was part of the group sent to rescue him. And our trainee team helped evacuate students underground when the Sentinels attacked.
I've also been taking combat lessons for most of my time at the school, but I haven't had much practice with it besides that.
[That's something he sounds somewhat self-conscious about. So many other students seem like they've been used to sudden superhero brawls since forever, and he never even got into fistfights as a schoolkid.]
And...my mutation can be hard to try to explain, but essentially I can link people's minds together and give them a power boost. It takes work to get used to, but it's good for keeping groups in contact and coordinated when there's action.
[A pause, followed by a vaguely sheepish look back at Saber. He still really doesn't even know anything about this girl or what she's after, but that's the best impromptu dossier on himself he could deliver.]
Did that cover everything?

[Personality was important for team dynamics.]

[Shindou blinks, surprised, for a second. Saber came off as so...direct?...that he'd figured she'd want to be all business.]
Ah -- I'm from Tokyo, originally? I started at the Institute in 2012, but after everything that happened it's only my second year. [This is the most casual way he's been able to think of to say that he's basically an unwilling time-traveler.]
Before, there were so many attacks on the school...[That it makes his expression darken, just thinking about them all together.] Training with the X-Men seemed like the only way I could help keep the other students here safe. I don't know if I could stay with being a "hero" after I graduate, but it's important to me that I do something while I'm here.
