Unjustifiable

"...demonstrations quickly broke into violence as members of both Friends of Humanity and the Mutant Liberation Front attacked one another in various scuffles all throughout the evening in various locations around the US, particularly in Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, and Washington DC. Police have attempted to keep the situation under control, but neither group has made it very easy..."

"... President Kelly's return has also brought on several questions about the Genoshan situation and now the current strife in the US has effected those negotations. Kelly has simply stated that he has faith in the ambassadors still in Genosha and in the American people to come to a peaceful resolution on the mutant crisis..."

"... in an extremely rare interview, Shaw told Rosetta Riley that, in his view, Mutant Registration was the precipice of the not just the new decade, but what would shape the way historians looked at the early 21st century entirely. He said that while he regrets his company in their involvement in Project Wideawake, he still supports Registration on principle, he just feels the federal government has very little in the way of resources to enforce it the way it would be needed to fairness and liberty for mutant citizens...."

"... soup kitchens across District X were defaced overnight with anti-mutant graffiti, much of which parodying the now famous MLF logo. Some of them even had their food stocks tampered with, forcing organizers to scramble to make up for the damaged food..."

"... found dead after the protests cleared out, with the MLF logo spraypainted on his back. Relatives and mourners described the young man as a positive force in his community. He had many mutant friends as well, who described his death as unjustifiable and proof that the MLF is as dangerous as those they claim to fight against..."

This is the point they might not entirely agree. At least, the way Natsuno curiously looks up from his food and at the other guy instead seems to indicate as much.

"You really think you can get them to remember that?" His own tone sounds absolutely doubtful.

Will he be able to do it? He knows that's an impossible task, but the moment he gives in to the ideas of a limit, the moment he too loses his "imagination".

"Maybe not any time soon," He begins, initially sounding uncertain. But as the words flow out, he becomes more hopeful and sure. "And maybe not everyone. But bit by bit, I think we can all make it happen. We just have to show everyone what it was like, and they'll remember, eventually."

He thinks back to the mutant who had saved him all those years ago, the same man who threw challenge after challenge at him and Raimon. Tenma found out that the man had began to doubt that mutants could coexist peacefully with normal humans, but in the end, began to believe in that ideal again. He wondered if the Mutant Liberation Front felt the same way.

"Maybe we have to show it to the Liberation Front too..."

Sorry, Natsuno's already a little more down the line towards adulthood, as one can see.. he's way too mature for a fifteen year old, anyway. But even so, at least there's still some stuff he's willing to believe in, but this sort of notion really is pushing the limit. Hence why he doesn't look as easily agreeable right now.

"How optimistic." But then again, can it really hurt? The worst they'll do is laugh at the guy, but they already endure that enough in general as mutants.. what's one time more or less? "I guess if anyone could do it, it's someone who started a revolution before, huh?"

It's a little airy - probably on purpose. It makes it hard to tell if Natsuno means that genuinely or as a joke, and he likes to keep it that way.. otherwise people might actually find him nice one day. Wow.

"I didn't mean for that to happen!" Tenma blurted, suddenly embarrassed by the notion. There was something different about admitting he did and someone commenting on it, for him at least. He was just a simple brat who could barely kick a ball straight when it happened after all. He buried his face in his hands in a moment, hiding an embarrassed flush that started to creep up on his cheeks. But when it subsided, he peeked at Natsuno through his fingers.

"And it's not something I can do alone."

Natsuno doesn't even really blink at Tenma's reaction to the whole thing. He just calmly digs his fork into the meal before he looks up and sees the other guy glancing at him through his fingers like that.

.. He's not implying something, right? Don't let him be implying something. Please.

"If you're thinking about asking me to help you, then I'll have to pass. That sort of thing isn't my style." He has a cool and uncaring image to keep up.. that's hard work!!

A little smile creeps up on his face beneath his palms. How he knows that type. Oh how he knows that type. It was almost nostalgic, back during simpler times, if a soccer revolution could even be called that.

"Everyone has a part to play." He commented as he let his hands pull down on his face to wipe off that secret smile. "Even if you don't play at all."

"Don't include me."

Even by saying that he's included even if he decides to not include himself. That's not how this is going to work, okay!! So don't mind him grumpily (more like tsundere-y, honestly) forking some more of the food into his mouth until he's finished what he's had in front of him, standing up while holding the tray in his hands.

"That's all I'm saying. If you really can achieve something like that.. good for you, I guess. Just don't rush head first into danger." See, he.. somewhat cares.. in his own way..

Maybe he just has a fond spot for idealistic boys taking acting like that. It's a lot like Akira - hopefully he's still okay by now back home.

When he processed those words, that tiny smile turns into full blown laughter. How he definitely knows that type.

"Sorry, sorry! I didn't mean it like anything bad." He managed to say after his giggle fit. "You just reminded me of someone." He shoots Natsuno a smile, an almost knowing smile. "But thank you."

He lets out a huff, but it's only a slight one - it borders on a sigh.

"I'm not going to ask." Better not to, judging by that laughter. It doesn't sound like it could be anything good.

So instead of doing that, he just turns around and walks away to put away the tray and move on after food. He'll remember this conversation for sure though.
