"...demonstrations quickly broke into violence as members of both Friends of Humanity and the Mutant Liberation Front attacked one another in various scuffles all throughout the evening in various locations around the US, particularly in Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, and Washington DC. Police have attempted to keep the situation under control, but neither group has made it very easy..."
"... President Kelly's return has also brought on several questions about the Genoshan situation and now the current strife in the US has effected those negotations. Kelly has simply stated that he has faith in the ambassadors still in Genosha and in the American people to come to a peaceful resolution on the mutant crisis..."
"... in an extremely rare interview, Shaw told Rosetta Riley that, in his view, Mutant Registration was the precipice of the not just the new decade, but what would shape the way historians looked at the early 21st century entirely. He said that while he regrets his company in their involvement in Project Wideawake, he still supports Registration on principle, he just feels the federal government has very little in the way of resources to enforce it the way it would be needed to fairness and liberty for mutant citizens...."
"... soup kitchens across District X were defaced overnight with anti-mutant graffiti, much of which parodying the now famous MLF logo. Some of them even had their food stocks tampered with, forcing organizers to scramble to make up for the damaged food..."
"... found dead after the protests cleared out, with the MLF logo spraypainted on his back. Relatives and mourners described the young man as a positive force in his community. He had many mutant friends as well, who described his death as unjustifiable and proof that the MLF is as dangerous as those they claim to fight against..."

"They're just another obstacle if all they do is take out non-essential targets. It wasn't some FoH thug or terrorist they killed. It was a kid who didn't have to die. Now he's the political scape goat Last Stand needed to push their agenda past Kelly. They've set us all back by decades."

"I'm just going to change the channel, okay..."
Adachi isn't asking for permission. He's bored of the news! So he messes with the TV until he gets it to show something that has a shoot-out in it. He doesn't know what it is, exactly, but it looks a lot less dull, and thus, better!

When she left a long while ago, there was riots and protests about the economy and mutants ruining it. Now, well, that had died down a while ago but she wondered if there was actually anything going on.

Then she says, "Uh, noo?! I'm kind of watching that!"
There is no way she's gonna let him change the channel like that. The redhead hops up and huffs over to face him with a serious frown.

So he isn't dead after all. I'm still curious what's going on though.

I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't a hate group painting the other side this way. But at the same time, extremists can't be trusted either. This situation is only going to cause more problems for everyone.

Yet, when the anchor switches over to that last story, it's all he can do to keep from chucking his bottle at the screen.]
Stupid, reckless fucks!
There was probably an entire crowd of Friends of Humanity showing their asses at that protest, and they go and off the one flatscan who'll play well on the six o'clock news...!

What catches her off guard, and makes her jump a little, is Al's outburst. ]
It cannot be helped. [ She murmurs, her accent it still pretty thick but understandable. It's noticeably french. ] History and news are often written from the point of view of tyranny. [ She crosses her arms over her chest, unconsciously playing with her necklace. ]
Is this typical?

So he tries to distract himself as best he can, listening to his swearing teacher and nodding slowly.]
It is remarkably neat, isn't it? It could have been some vandal known for frothing at the mouth at every given opportunity, but instead they find some Regina-blessed martyr material.

Laura did not rush to judgment, it was as likely that some idiot children killed him to help, and did the wrong thing. But it could also be all manner of other less obvious things.
"I am surprised nobody has attempted to paint the X-Men as murderers and terrorists lately. It would not be that difficult. It would be a stronger effort to put down the Professor's ideals than attacking the school has ever done."

"I don't see why anyone's surprised."
Still, he wishes he could be in the fight. That's where he belongs, doing battle for humanity. But they don't want him, and Eren knows very well what could happen if his power activated in the midst of a crowd. He does mutter something about traitors, but it's hard to make out.
He looks up and narrows his eyes when the dead man is mentioned. "It's only going to get worse."

In other words, he doesn't even want to listen to the news right now. But it's too serious to ask to turn off, and the drumbeat of miserable headlines has his teeth gritted soon enough.
As if that weren't enough, he's seated right in the path of Eren's cleaning. He's right in range to pick up on the resident Friend of Humanity's commentary on the grimmest story of the day.
He turns around in seat, wincing when he gets a face to pair with the familiar voice. That guy, of course.
"Can you not...?" He glowers, voice restrained but still plainly on-edge.

Anyway, people are more interesting! So when Eren speaks, he turns to the younger boy with a bright, curious expression on his face. "What is it that's going to get worse?"

"I'm just overthinking it... maybe,.." He quietly mutters to himself in Japanese.
Shaking his head, he tries to go back to whatever it was he was doing, but he is keeping the tv in the corner of his eyes.

"Overthinking what?" she asks, using Japanese as well. She'd almost left the boy to his musings, but sometimes it helped to talk. And perhaps she could settle some of her own feelings at the same time.

Though it's clumsy, it's managing to use the mouse on one of the computers in the library pretty well, and it occasionally pauses to meticulously drag the cursor over the arrows on the side of the screen, scrolling down whenever it reaches the end of a page. Right now it's on a news website, apparently watching a video of a news report about the unfortunate young man found dead with the MLF logo spraypainted onto him.
Its tails sway from side to side as the cat finishes the video, then moves the mouse over to a link with similar news items.

"Hello. Are you an especially smart cat or do you just like to watch the...cursor move?"
She holds out her hand to scritch it, if it wants.

Maya was fairly sure that the rising level of anger between both sides meant she should just keep a weapon on her to be safe. Did everyone just want a war? Maybe she should look into other countries to live in. New Zealand is very pretty, right? All those movies made there...
"Just one holiday, I want a single holiday without anyone trying to kill us. That really too much to ask?"
