[Eren has just gotten back to school, and he's up to his usual tricks. Namely: cleaning. He's back at work as an unofficial janitor. He likes to work. It helps him keep his mind off things he'd rather not think about. So while other people in the lounge are hanging out, eating, watching TV, playing video games, Eren is... well, sweeping. Very thoroughly sweeping.

He frowns as the news comes on, but he keeps his mouth shut. It's a little weird to be here again. He's not sure if it's a good idea. Maybe he shouldn't be here. He didn't tell anyone that he was coming back. He figures, if they want to see him, they'll see him. And if not, that's fine.]

-His return may have not been advertised, but it was pretty much impossible to hide his scent, and when Kagerou caught it again, she immediately sought him out, dashing her way over excitedly, arms open.-

Ereeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen!

-Time for a big fluffy hug, whether he liked it or not.-

[Concentrating on the floor and his frowning, he wasn't expecting any hug attacks. He glances up, eyes widening, as she comes barreling toward him. He doesn't have time to react or evade, even if he would have wanted to. Suddenly he's just in the middle of a hug.]

Oh, uh—hi!

[He's not always the most eloquent guy.]

Oh my goodness, you really are back! -Kagerou gave him a tight squeeze before pulling back, regaining her composure a bit.- I thought I'd never see you again...

[After a brief hesitation—more out of surprise and uncertainty than anything else—he returns the hug.]

Yeah—I didn't know if I'd come back.

It's good to see you!

[It's nice that someone's glad to see him, anyway. He manages a smile.]

I hope you've been okay.

-Hoo boy. How to respond to that... Well. This was supposed to be a happy reunion. Best not to mention what happened during the X-Day riots...-

Y-yeah... And you? Are you... -Happier? Feeling more level? She didn't know how to word it, but seeing him smile did ease her heart.-

I'm fine, I guess.

[He shrugs, his smile fading, because he's still not too sure about being here. Or any of this.]

I'll be all right. No matter what, I won't give up.

Good... I knew you wouldn't. You're just that kind of guy. -Even if her feelings towards him had mellowed out, that was still very much one of the things she admired.-

It's been... pretty crazy since you've been gone. But, I'll be honest, I don't really want to talk about any of that. Are you due for a break soon?

[garganteren]

That's right, I never give up on anything! No matter how long it takes.

[He says this with great sincerity.]

Yeah, it feels like it's been a while. We don't have to talk about it.

[He nods.]

I can stop whenever I want.

[Since he's sort of a volunteer janitor.]

Did you wanna get something to eat, then? O-or whatever, I mean, I'm not picky, I just...

I missed you. A lot.

Sure! I'm pretty hungry.

[His appetite hasn't been great, as he's been stressed about returning. He might have had his doubts about coming back but he can't run away and be a coward.]

I'm glad—not that you felt bad, but I thought everyone here would be happier without me around.

[He even caused the people he liked a lot of trouble. Although he feels awkward admitting to that. It feels... weak. He moves on, blurting the next words out.]

But I missed you, too!

I've got some jerky I need to get rid of before I move into Kaguya's room if you want to help me finish it off. -Kagerou smiled brightly, taking his hand and leading him along, not even thinking about it.-

[Eren had often held his friends' hands, so he didn't think much about it, either. It seemed normal to him.]

Somehow I'm not surprised it's jerky. Sure, I could eat some, if you want.

[He really was hungry. His stomach growled, proving it.]

[They may not have been roommates for long - Eren had moved out when Ken had hardly moved in - but yeah, he definitely recognizes that guy, when he walks in the door, and he stops halfway through his beeline for the couch.]

Oh! You're back?

[Eren glances up at the somewhat familiar voice.]

Oh. Hi.

[At least this is someone he hadn't gotten in a fight with. He knows most people here aren't exactly big fans of his. He manages a quick smile.]

Yeah, I just got back. How've you been?

[This is a bit awkward.]

[It is indeed awkward, but not saying anything feels like it would be just as awkward, in Ken's mind, so...so here they are.]

I've been okay. How about you?

Sure... I'm fine.

I had to go somewhere, that's all.

[Not the best or most complete explanation there.]

I guess we're not roommates anymore. I wish we could pick our rooms.

[He doesn't know Ken well, but he thinks he'd prefer him to his current roommate.]

I think I've gotten switched every month since I got here.

[He's unobtrusive enough that he doesn't have a problem with most roommates, really, but it gets...a little tiring. Every time he gets used to someone, he's living with someone else.]

Really? They shouldn't do that. That's not fair.

[People shouldn't be shuffled around like that. This place is so weird.]

I don't like my roommate at all. I'll probably go sleep in a lounge.

Who are you with now?

[Not that Ken's...social, terribly, and he doesn't know a lot of the older kids, but he knows reputations. He reads the network. He recognizes a lot of names without having talked to the people they're attached to personally.]

His name's Liir. We don't get along.

[There are a fair number of people he doesn't get along with here, but it's not as if he seeks them out and tries to cause trouble—it's different when he's forced to live with one of them.]

[Thinking...thinking...]

Oh! I think I know who you mean.

[And the uncertain look on his face suggests that he thinks he gets the not getting along bit, now. He may not know a ton about politics - it's hard to follow when he's still working on his English - but he's kind of gathered that Liir is nnnnnot the moderate sort.]

Right. I guess there are some people who get along with him, but I'm not one of them.

[And he glowers, as if to say he doesn't approve of the people who do.]

Although I guess I shouldn't leave. That would be letting him win, and I don't let terrorists win.

Has he done something like that?

[The impression he's gotten from the news is mostly that you have to bomb a building or do something really wild to count as a terrorist.]

Well, it's not like I can prove anything.

[Maybe he shouldn't have said anything so extreme, but he doesn't always think these things through.]

So it's nothing definite, but I have my suspicions. And even planning things can make you a terrorist. You don't have to do anything.
