The Ashes of the Phoenix [OPEN]

WHO: John Sublime, "No Girl", the U-Men, and their unfortunate target... The Insitute
WHAT: Sublime's U-Men attack the school. They're aiming for the sublevels. Stop them at all costs!
WHERE: Throughout campus
WHEN: Past midnight, Wednesday-Thursday
WARNING(S): Gonna get violent.

The time was now. The media attention over his followers actions was too much. And after all, Xavier's little henchmen in London had figured it out. He was sure of it. There was no more time to bide. No more room for hesitation. It was act now, or the revolution would end in a prison cell, festering away in the disgusting care of this unclean world. Sublime couldn't stomach it. Couldn't fathom it. And whatever god help those who stood in the way of him and his dream of Homo Perfectus.

"All units are in place," Sublime whispered, peering out over the immaculate green, covered in moonlight, staring a drilling, piercing hole into the mansion. "Martha... it's your turn now," another whisper, as the floating apparatus before him, holding a strange glowing orb, began to shine even more brightly.

Just like that, the security systems failed. And just like that, Charles Xavier gasped and sent out a short, psychic burst to all X-Men, perhaps to everyone in the school, before he was overwhelmed and silenced, collapsing from his bed to the floor, stunned into sleep by a psychic force even he was not prepared for.

"This is it, Martha... our dream... U-Men! Bring me the Ashes of the Phoenix!" And like that, dozens of the men from the blurred video that Glamour and Spy had managed to obtain swarmed the ground, organic and mechanical, using a plethora of stolen mutant powers, attacked.

[[ This is it! Our first major action post, and in X-Men tradition, it's a direct attack on campus. Feel free to start your own threads. The U-Men will be NPC'd by the mods. Their ultimate goal is the filed away genetic samples of Jean Grey in the sublevels. They must be stopped, before someone uses them to integrate Jean's powers into a U-Man. ]]

If one intends to shoot, it is best to do it as soon as one decides to.

Because that moment of hesitation gives him enough time to produce not one, but three focused water jets, and the three streams intersected at a point slightly above the gun's handgrip. The weapon stays intact for a split second before shattering, raining fragments of metal and gunpowder everywhere.

Now that the gun was out of the way, he could move on to other things. The large pool of water around them surged upwards, half of it forming a simple barrier around him, while the other half elongated into a whip. From here, he could do one of two things - break the barrier again and strangle the man, or otherwise drill through his shield. In either case, it should be evident that he intends to take out this U-Man as soon as possible.

The youth quickly moves to the left, letting the water shield take the impact from the U-Man's fist. As soon as the punch connects he releases his control from the block of water, taking advantage of the now slippery floor to slide further out of reach. Coupled with the polished quality of the marbled floor, any sudden movements from the U-Man would most likely cause him to slip.

He forms the remaining water into a conical shape, around a metre long and half a metre in diameter - a drill, of course. And now not only did it have pressure, it also had rotational inertia comparable to that of an industrial drill. It's a skill that he almost never used, but desperate times call for desperate measures. Having his past self take charge boosted his powers, but it also meant that he'd only receive more psychic recoil later. The backlash would no doubt make him bleed from multiple orifices once the deed was done, but he didn't have time to think of it now.

As soon as the drill breaks through he diverts his attention to the man himself, aiming for whatever fluid compartments that were accessible. The reason it had been so ineffective the previous time is because he had been trying not to kill his opponent. But not this time.

With a flick of his wrist he locks onto the U-Man's cerebrospinal fluid and sends it all surging into his brain. It's only about a hundred millilitres of water, but the slight pressure is more than enough to burst the ventricular membranes.

After all, once you kill one person, taking a second one's life becomes so much easier.
