The Ashes of the Phoenix [OPEN]

WHO: John Sublime, "No Girl", the U-Men, and their unfortunate target... The Insitute
WHAT: Sublime's U-Men attack the school. They're aiming for the sublevels. Stop them at all costs!
WHERE: Throughout campus
WHEN: Past midnight, Wednesday-Thursday
WARNING(S): Gonna get violent.

The time was now. The media attention over his followers actions was too much. And after all, Xavier's little henchmen in London had figured it out. He was sure of it. There was no more time to bide. No more room for hesitation. It was act now, or the revolution would end in a prison cell, festering away in the disgusting care of this unclean world. Sublime couldn't stomach it. Couldn't fathom it. And whatever god help those who stood in the way of him and his dream of Homo Perfectus.

"All units are in place," Sublime whispered, peering out over the immaculate green, covered in moonlight, staring a drilling, piercing hole into the mansion. "Martha... it's your turn now," another whisper, as the floating apparatus before him, holding a strange glowing orb, began to shine even more brightly.

Just like that, the security systems failed. And just like that, Charles Xavier gasped and sent out a short, psychic burst to all X-Men, perhaps to everyone in the school, before he was overwhelmed and silenced, collapsing from his bed to the floor, stunned into sleep by a psychic force even he was not prepared for.

"This is it, Martha... our dream... U-Men! Bring me the Ashes of the Phoenix!" And like that, dozens of the men from the blurred video that Glamour and Spy had managed to obtain swarmed the ground, organic and mechanical, using a plethora of stolen mutant powers, attacked.

[[ This is it! Our first major action post, and in X-Men tradition, it's a direct attack on campus. Feel free to start your own threads. The U-Men will be NPC'd by the mods. Their ultimate goal is the filed away genetic samples of Jean Grey in the sublevels. They must be stopped, before someone uses them to integrate Jean's powers into a U-Man. ]]

At first, Marisa just nodded, trying to keep quiet for as long as she could. She could not see what Flandre could so it was best fro her to just wait and take her cues from her teammate. Better to hold of on making light until it was really needed...

Even if she could not understand what was said, that alerted her and Marisa dove to the side instead, a hand full of stars forming as a quick defense. Although the bright light and sound did throw her off and had her dazed. It didn't take long for her to at least try to react, throwing the stars down the hall way and making them flash brightly, trying to at least mimic the brightness. She would have called out but..She couldn't hear herself.

"Hold still? How about ya catch a clue or let use show ya why it's not worked for ANYONE ta invade here?"

Flandre kept her eyes tightly closed; all the light hurt almost as much as the burns. But the burns were starting to regenerate, deeper tissue tingling almost unpleasantly as nerves reconnected.

Balance and sound took longer to reestablish itself; sight longer still. Ten seconds, five? They might as well be hours.

But she could stand, now. And through the garbled patches of sound, got a better idea of where the U-Man was standing.

He had been focusing almost exclusively on Marisa, helmet glass tinted to resist the effects of his own grenades, but the bullets themselves were harder to ignore. He sidestepped--then stepped sideways another way, teleporting a short distance away after baiting more of the projectiles in that direction, albeit sporting a few scorch marks himself. But he was closer, now. He started to pull another stun grenade from the belt holster, which caught Flandre's attention. Less in what it was--she still couldn't see--but because it made sound.

She spread her arms as far as they could go, and charged forwards, sweeping her arms as soon as she thought she was near where she heard the sound.

"Would have made it easier if you stayed in be--whoa!" One of Flandre's sweeping claws caught his torso, ripped through the material of the suit, lifted him up like a ragdoll, and flicked him backwards into a wall. He hit with enough force to crack the plaster and leave a sizable dent before sliding down it, the grenade bouncing some distance away with the pin still in it. The blow hadn't broken skin, but the U-Man was rather dazed regardless.

The stars were just something to keep the U-Man occupied and if Marisa could see, she'd be slightly happy to know it worked to a point. Although she did have a idea to work with sometime later..sometime that wasn't in the middle of combat.

For now though, Marisa had her eyes closed and trying to wait until she at least got one sense back. At the moment she was not going to help as much as she'd rather just throw a random laser down the hall. She'd rather not be hitting who she didn't need to be. Although she wasn't idle, trying to figure out what was needed.

Thought the sound of both the U-man hitting the wall and the sound of the grenade was not exactly the first things she hoped to hear...but still going to keep her voice down for now.

"Shit...Flan? Please tell me that is a good sound..."

She'd come up with a laser flying but...Yeah. Friendly fire was not in the game plan.

Flandre's eyes were recovering to the point that she could at least make out shapes; the figure of the U-Man crumpled to the ground and struggling to get up was one of the first things she could see. Her steps were getting more stable, but she paused at what Marisa said.

"I'm not dead yet," she said. Just in a remarkably vile mood. Flandre continued on over

"Move and I'll bite your head off," she growled at him. She might even do so! With the suit of his punctured, though, some of the fight went right out of him. The taller mutant reached out to grab his shoulder, with a lack of other options to do or see anything.

"Is he awake yet or will throwing someone against his door help?" In reference to Reimu, this time.

It takes a moment for Marisa to respond as she was still recovering from the whole thing..but she could hear enough and that tone. Yeah, really glad she was on her teammate's side once more.

She picks herself back up and moves towards Flandre's voice, a slightly mischievous grin on her face. She opens her eyes, trying to see more then just vague shapes in the dark.

"Probably will have to be woken up by the event thrown on his head knowin' him...Shall we go see?"

Flandre paused, bristling, when she felt someone else nearby--but calmed down again when she heard Marisa's voice.

"Can you see?" she asked; even if she was shaking the U-Man's shoulder at the time, she wasn't speaking to him. Most of her regenerative system was focused on her eyes now; vision returned to her faster, even if her ears still had an unpleasant buzzing sound humming around in them. She could almost make out numbers and letters on the doors. The taller mutant reached out to grab Marisa's wrist with her free hand, and proceeded with both of them down the hall--dragging the U-man along (who had gone intelligently still) and guiding Marisa rather more politely.

Flandre had to double back on herself, sure that she missed the hallway she was aiming for, then the room. She wasn't sure if she did or not, but when she finally did get there, she raised her hand to smash on the door almost immediately.

"Reimu! Rei--," she stopped mid-knock, staring at her now empty hand. Flandre looked up and down the hall--no sign of the U-man whatsoever. He had teleported right out of her claws. "Dammit."
