For all of the newcomers, welcome to Professor Xavier’s Institute of Higher Learning! For all of our returning students and staff, welcome back! Once Professor Xavier’s welcome speech wraps up, it’s time for everyone to get themselves situated in their dorms and, more importantly, get to know your fellow mutants! Even if you’re not sharing rooms, you’ll still be sharing the same campus with each other, so don’t be afraid to get used to all of those new faces! Or even catch up on old ones! You have options; don’t be afraid to use them.

Christelle had been enjoying a cigarette outside, chatting to any students that came by before eventually moving off to a more private area. There was only so much teen spirit she could take, really.

She felt the chill in the air before she saw Toushirou and shivered, frowning as she glanced around until she caught sight of the white-haired boy. One brow arching, she remembered this was one of the students that had been caught in stasis, mind helpfully providing the information on name, age, mutation, etc.

"I do believe it's suddenly gotten colder," she commented drily, blowing smoke out to the side.

And that gets his own brow to arch. Hm. Teacher, clearly. One he didn't recognize, but what else was new? Besides practically everything, that was.

"Well you're not wrong." And he wasn't bothering to pull his power in at all yet. Perhaps he should be a bit more respectful to the staff, but his mood at the moment was just slightly foul. If she actually told him to, he'd probably do it, though.

"Is this a regular phenomenon where you're concerned?" she asks drily. "Only if it is, I'll 'ave to remember to pack a scarf daily."

Sigh. Okay, okay. He won't ease off the temperature, but he'll pull the cold aura in a few feet. Surely that's acceptable enough.

"Only when I want it to be."

[seduceme]

Her smile brightens as the cold withdraws from around her. "You must 'ate summer."

Whereas he just frowns more. Yes, that's actually possible. "Yes, I do."

Way to state the obvious. He'd never particularly liked it even before his mutation activated, really. The mutation just exaggerates the issue.

"Mm." She taps the ash from her cigarette and comments, "If you keep making that face it will stick that way. It's not terrible but 'ardly the most attractive way to remain."

He blinks at that -- because what? -- but it's a scowly type of blink. "I think you're a few years too late with that warning."

His face has been 'stuck this way' pretty much since he'd been a toddler.

"You're still young - your muscles 'ave yet to freeze in place despite your best efforts." She smirks and takes a drag from her cigarette. "There is 'ope yet."

Though in truth that scowl is making her want to poke his cheek.

The smirk just makes his brow furrow more. He doesn't understand people like this. They don't make sense.

"Well, I'm not interested in this so-called hope and I don't have any intention of discontinuing my 'efforts'." Yes, the quotes around that are audible. What effort? This is way more natural than smiling, which he doesn't have a lot of cause to do right now anyway. And one might think this is an attempt to sound older than he is, but this is seriously the way he talks.

She's actually expecting to see those quotes form as ice shapes around his head. "You make it sound as though you are destined for a life of un'appiness. 'ave you been promised away to an ugly girl?"

Now, now; that would be terribly childish of him. He's far too mature for that, as you can see. And he'd wonder just what the hell is wrong that a woman like this has been hired on as -- presumably -- a teacher, but . . . well. He'd been at this school for a year. His combat teacher had been a wanted criminal in several countries. The school's odd hiring policies are nothing new.

"No, and I have absolutely no interest in that kind of thing." So you see? Whether he smiles or not is totally irrelevant.

Hey now, that's no way to think of one of your teachers! Or... rather maybe it is. She is rather odd, but at least she's not homicidal.

"You say that now, mon petit," she says in a sing-song voice that implies she's mocking his serious tone. "Life is too short to take everything so seriously."

Don't worry, it's not just one of his teachers he thinks this about. It would be quicker to name the exceptions.

"Don't call me that." He might not speak French, but the meaning of that is common knowledge. No, he does not appreciate being called 'little one'. And he's thirteen and thus totally knows what he does or doesn't want. "And don't talk to me about how long or short life is."

That last is delivered with a sharper, more bitter edge than anything else he's said thus far. He'd missed five years; he doesn't need to hear this crap.

She stares at him calmly as she takes a drag from her cigarette again. "Then you of all people should understand the validity of the statement."

That hits him somewhere. He's not sure where exactly, but it makes both his teeth and fists clench, and that cold aura is back, extending a lot further than he'd had it out originally, frost creeping along the ground. This time, it's not on purpose.

He's got nothing to say to that, so he just glares at her and makes a move to storm off.

"Try not to go around the flowerbeds!" she calls from behind, doing her best not to shiver. "You'll kill the lovely blossoms at this rate."
