For all of the newcomers, welcome to Professor Xavier’s Institute of Higher Learning! For all of our returning students and staff, welcome back! Once Professor Xavier’s welcome speech wraps up, it’s time for everyone to get themselves situated in their dorms and, more importantly, get to know your fellow mutants! Even if you’re not sharing rooms, you’ll still be sharing the same campus with each other, so don’t be afraid to get used to all of those new faces! Or even catch up on old ones! You have options; don’t be afraid to use them.

[[ ooc: This is the general mingling post for all of our characters to get settled into their rooms, get to know each other, reminisce with old friends, all that jazz. The log will be split into multiple locations. ]]

"Ah... yes, it is certainly unique. Although, fortunately--at least, for the purpose of adapting to it--also ubiquitous. And, I've had the opportunity to travel to 'The States' before, as well."

He says the informal title with something of an amused air like it's a quaint or somehow peculiar term, although the amusement doesn't seem to involve any particular hostility.

Takakage does share the same sentiment. It is a pervasive culture, but it can get very jarring after a while.

"Ah, that is good to hear." He nods slowly, unconsciously transferring the baton to his other hand. "Our school is situated a ways from the city - the culture isn't all that forceful here, at the very least."

It's something he very much appreciates. His nerves could only take so much noise, after all.

Alric chuckles casually and nods.

"Mm. I've learned to appreciate the city, certainly, but all else being equal, I much prefer the woodlands, myself."

The conversation is starting to wind down again, so he tries to find something else to say.

"How do you find the school, Alric?" It must be very different from his home, considering how he had been taught mostly by tutors.

"Ah.. it's.. ...different, certainly. To be quite honest, I'm not used to being around quite so many people near my age, much less in an academic context. I'm certainly not used to being around so many people with, ah.. abilities. For as long as I can remember, it had only been myself; I knew no one else with unusual powers of any sort, at least, not personally. ...it's going to be... interesting."

He gives the youth a slow nod, but his tone becomes a little more serious. "At the very least, this is a safe environment. Most of the students here do have respect for one another."

A pause. He realizes that he may have gone out of point a little.

"If you require any assistance with adjusting, please do not hesitate to contact the teachers."

"Mm, of course--it's most appreciated."

He smiled sincerely at the offer of aid, and nodded.

"I believe it will simply be a matter of time. Although if I'm aware of anyone else in need of guidance, I'll certainly keep the faculty in mind."

"Alright then." Alric is a very responsible student - that's something he can certainly appreciate.

"I will be returning to my office soon. Is there anything else I can help with?"

Time to get cracking on the curriculum and draft out lesson plans.

"Ah... no, I don't believe so. I was a pleasure getting to meet you, Mr. Takakage. Have a good day, nn?"

"Have a good day too, Alric. I shall see you hence."

He gives the student another half-nod before making his way back to the faculty buildings.
