For all of the newcomers, welcome to Professor Xavier’s Institute of Higher Learning! For all of our returning students and staff, welcome back! Once Professor Xavier’s welcome speech wraps up, it’s time for everyone to get themselves situated in their dorms and, more importantly, get to know your fellow mutants! Even if you’re not sharing rooms, you’ll still be sharing the same campus with each other, so don’t be afraid to get used to all of those new faces! Or even catch up on old ones! You have options; don’t be afraid to use them.

[[ ooc: This is the general mingling post for all of our characters to get settled into their rooms, get to know each other, reminisce with old friends, all that jazz. The log will be split into multiple locations. ]]

She'd have to take care not to get that name wrong.

"How courteous." Remilia chuckled quietly to herself, taking a moment for a cautious sip of the tea. "The offer is appreciated, but this is the last of it." She nodded her head briefly towards the bags beside her chair. Of course, this is also the first time she's journeyed up the stairs, but Remilia didn't find her utility of windows to be odd.

I don't blame her, even native japanese speakers find his name hard to pronounce :'D

"Ah, I see." He nods, lacing the baton between his fingers. Their conversation had dwindled, and he isn't quite sure what to say to a lady he just met. The silence between them stretches for a while before he hits on something he could ask.

"Which department will you be joining, Miss Remilia?" It doesn't seem appropriate to just use her first name. Dropping titles had been strange for a while, especially when switching over from Japanese. A lack of suffixes in his native tongue indicated great familiarity.

It doesn't help that her experience with Japanese is paltry at best

Remilia didn't mind the brief drop in conversation. As social as she was, the young woman was content to sit and enjoy her tea, distancing herself from the din of excited students downstairs. She'd have to adjust to how unbelievably noisy this place was compared to her home.

She made a small, amused noise before answering. "Several, actually. I had never planned to teach, so I don't have a specialty. Instead, I'll be instructing subjects that I'm most comfortable with. French, economics, and flight, to start with."

Remilia paused to take another small drink of her tea. "And what of you?"

He doesn't ask why she never planned to teach. Many mutants had been driven here as a place of last refuge, so she might be amongst them as well. Asking for the reason would be impolite, at the very least.

So he merely waits for her to finish before replying. "I teach Biology for Grades Eleven and Twelve, but do fill in for Chemistry once in a while." A pause. "Depending on interest, I may also be opening a master class for capable students."

It's something he's picked up during his term in Singapore.

Sentinel attacks had a way of reorganizing one's life priorities.

"Oh? In what?" A master class seemed a little excessive for the purpose of the school, but who knows? Some students here might never have another opportunity for it.

"Advanced biology." He sets his baton against his book cover, looking a little pleased. "To be precise, I intend to cover theories and practicals pertaining to medicine. Not all of our students possess regenerative abilities, so some first aid and treatment skills will be beneficial."

Not to mention it also had the effect of reducing mortality. He's had to see quite a few people whose wounds had gotten infected. It wasn't pretty.

Remilia curiously glanced to the baton as she took another drink of tea. She gave him an amused half-smile.

"Believe me, those of us with regenerative abilities still appreciate it. Nature's gifts aren't always the most efficient way to go about it, nor does it always cure everything that ails us." Remilia gently swirled the rest of the tea in the bottom of the cup. "But, yes. That'd be a good endeavor for the students."

"Indeed so." He folds his hands together briefly. "I am a trained and practicing doctor - while I cannot dispense licenses, I can certainly give our students the knowledge of how to handle first response situations."

A pause.

"Though some things may require intervention beyond the level of mundane doctors. Some students may have the ability to sense things not ordinarily perceivable by basic senses. Applying it will be a skill they need to hone on their own." His hydrokinesis gives him a level of control finer than other surgeons, and it has been useful in diagnosis - but it is something the students cannot rely on.

"Well, that's certainly a little ambitious, but the school would certainly benefit from it. I see now why you're setting it up as a master class."

She finished the cup, setting it down. "I'm afraid I can't offer them anything comparable in nature."

It may be ambitious, but it is something he will dedicate effort to making a reality.

"I am sure your skills will contribute just as much, Miss Remilia." While she doesn't seem to be too upset by this, it's still something he wants to raise. "Everyone contributes in their own ways."

A pause.

"Though if you wish to learn these skills, I am more than willing to assist." The more trained people there are, the better.

Remilia made a small, amused noise, folding her hands on her knee. "Oh, I plan to contribute; it merely doesn't hold a candle to 'Saving Lives 101.'" She chuckled quietly.

"As to the latter, we shall see. I may sit in, time to time. This is my first venture into teaching, and I don't know how much time I have to devote to it."

"I see." He says this with a slight tilt of his head. "I wish you luck in your term."

He's had experience - three years of it, albeit in a different culture. It's been... quite hard to adjust, actually. Singaporean students had much more respect for their teachers.

"Thank you. And you, in yours." At least Takakage didn't have to deal with being rumored to a vampire on top of American mutant students. "Tell me, do you make a habit of sitting out here, sharing tea with whomever happens to walk by?"

He answers after a thoughtful pause.

"Perhaps. I have done so somewhat frequently in the past few months, but I may not have time once term begins." Even though he only teaches two classes, he has to work as well. And the master class will also take time.

"Well, if I have time, perhaps I'll take up the mantle. What's the phrase—pass it forward?" Remilia smiled, standing and lifting her bags again.

"Regardless, again, thank you. It's been a wonderful refresher from moving in."

"It's the least I could do." He says this with a smile and a nod, moving to clear her empty teacup.

"Have a good evening, Miss Remilia."
