For all of the newcomers, welcome to Professor Xavier’s Institute of Higher Learning! For all of our returning students and staff, welcome back! Once Professor Xavier’s welcome speech wraps up, it’s time for everyone to get themselves situated in their dorms and, more importantly, get to know your fellow mutants! Even if you’re not sharing rooms, you’ll still be sharing the same campus with each other, so don’t be afraid to get used to all of those new faces! Or even catch up on old ones! You have options; don’t be afraid to use them.

[[ ooc: This is the general mingling post for all of our characters to get settled into their rooms, get to know each other, reminisce with old friends, all that jazz. The log will be split into multiple locations. ]]

"A pity I can't at least transform into animals like the little green boy can," she sighs, glancing out the window and seeing some sparrows fluttering about. "Turning into a bird to take to the skies would be interesting."

"In a fanciful mood today?" It isn't a thought unlike something he'd have, but he keeps things of that sort close to his chest, in the collection of notebooks he keeps in his own room instead of his office, written carefully by hand and hidden away just as carefully.

"Don't think I've met that particular one yet." At least it's a mutation that seems unlikely to cause too many disruptions in class, he thinks, without being dreadfully obvious about it. "Lot of new blood the last few days."

"'ardly," she answers, making a face and blowing smoke at him even though she knows it won't escape the ball he's made.

"I'm surprised you missed 'im. 'e stands out quite a bit already and was making a point of doing delayed transformations in the lobby."

He allows it to drift towards himself for a moment before he catches it, at least. Seems like the gentlemanly thing to do.

"I've only spent a few minutes in the lobby since the kids started turning up." He wanted to cherish what little bit of peace and quiet remained.

She actually lets out a soft chuckle at that admission. "Feeling your age?" she teases, even if she knows they're around the same age. "You can't escape them forever."

As if she hadn't done the exact same thing by taking to the gardens when things got too hectic.

He scoffs slightly, rolling his eyes, though it's apparent enough that he's hardly anything like actually upset.

"Couldn't stand all the noise they make even when I was one of them, more like."

[seduceme]

"At least it shows they're 'ealthy?" she shrugs. "And you know where they are at just about all times."

[koukai_kirai]

"Certainly an advantage when it comes to avoiding them. Not all of us are blessed with your particular talents in that arena."

[seduceme]

Rolling her eyes, she snorts and answers, "Turning invisible doesn't turn me deaf to the noise they make on approach." Hearing the kettle whistle with the boiling water, she rises to tend to it, calling over her shoulder, "Unless you're complaining about your pretty little fans. I thought you liked them."

"I wasn't saying I minded them." Though even those, he minded less when they were... quiet about it. He really wasn't made for working with children, though remembering some previous colleagues, he could have been worse.

[seduceme]

"You mentioned 'avoiding' them~"

Eventually she wanders back with her fresh coffee, happily inhaling the fumes as she sits again. "Seen any familiar faces amongst the students so far?"

"Hm." He supposed he did mention it, at that. But just because he didn't want to talk to someone didn't mean he didn't like them alright, did it?

"One or two. Mostly the ones who never left, a few just waking up."

shhhh /soothes

"Mm, those ones are going to be difficult," she notes, thinking back on her short encounter with Toushirou in the gardens the previous day. "Something tells me the counselor is going to be very busy."

She frowns a bit at the thought because she knows she's required to see him regularly herself.

[koukai_kirai]

"He was bound to have his hands full here, anyway."

Even if it weren't for the Phoenix Incident, it's not like the majority of the school is lacking traumatic backstories.

[seduceme]

"I 'ope 'e gets a raise."

[koukai_kirai]

"He deserves one. Possibly a medal, too."

[seduceme]

"A trophy for each month 'e survives."

[koukai_kirai]

"An epic, written in the name of his deeds."

[seduceme]

"A ballad to glorify his efforts."

[koukai_kirai]

"It seems only fair."

Seriously.

[seduceme]

"It's the right thing to do."

See? She can be agreeable.

"I'll leave the balladeering to you and your sense of righteousness, then."

As if Chris had one of those. He floated the collected ball of their smoke up towards an open window, as he came to the end of his own cigarette and withdrew a pocket ashtray to stub out what little remained.

Hey, she has one. She just ignores it mostly. Being something of a hedonist makes that surprisingly easy.

She follows suit with disposing of what little remains of her cigarette, focusing more on her coffee as she checks the time. "I think Wagner would be better suited to songwriting than me."

He takes up his tea to do likewise, catching that little glance to the clock.

"Not the creative sort? That's a surprise. Somewhere to be today?"

"I 'ave many talents, but songwriting is not one of them," she answers in a somewhat lofty tone. "And non, no where to be, but one can't 'elp but wonder when the noise will begin."
