For all of the newcomers, welcome to Professor Xavier’s Institute of Higher Learning! For all of our returning students and staff, welcome back! Once Professor Xavier’s welcome speech wraps up, it’s time for everyone to get themselves situated in their dorms and, more importantly, get to know your fellow mutants! Even if you’re not sharing rooms, you’ll still be sharing the same campus with each other, so don’t be afraid to get used to all of those new faces! Or even catch up on old ones! You have options; don’t be afraid to use them.

He aligns his fingertips together, smiling faintly.

"If you were to be offered an oppoturnity to learn skills in that field, would you be interested?"

Just doing a check now. If there are too little people, he might have to postpone the idea.

"Yeah, I'm pretty sure I'd be interested."

No harm in saying that, at least.

"I see." He gives her a nod. "I will take note of that, then."

"You are in Grade 12, yes?

[knowitallgoddess]

"Mmhmm! I hope I graduate this year! While I want to continue schooling after high school, I kind of want to join the X-Men too."

Hopefully, anyone who was in grade 12 would want to graduate. Othewise it was a waste of time.

"I am sure you will." He says this with a faint chuckle. If she is indeed so hardworking, then it ought not to be a problem.

"Do you take biology or chemistry? If so, you may be in my class." He'll definitely look out for her, that's for sure.

[knowitallgoddess]

"Chemistry right now. Hopefully you're not going to be partial on me now that you know I might be in your class."

People get in trouble for that kind of thing, certainly.

"Of course not." A slow blink punctuates his words. "I will indeed hold you to a similar standard as the rest of your class."

Which is quite a high standard, by the way. He had been assigned to teach the faster classes.

"That was one of those things where I said one thing but meant another."

Not really but the thought of it might get a reaction.

He doesn't reply immediately, instead giving her a slow, deliberate blink.

"And what do you exactly mean by that, young lady?"

(Take the hint, Palutena. He doesn't like these things.)

"....um. It was supposed to be a joke."

Her jokes were always the worst. Not that it was even a joke but she couldn't think of any other way to word it.

Ah.

"I see. While I appreciate your sense of humour, I believe it will be put to better use with your schoolmates." (Read as: you shouldn't try to fool around with a teacher. Or alternatively, he's just too serious to joke back.)

But he doesn't seem angry, though. His voice is still as calm as ever, perhaps even a little amused. Just a little.

"That's no fun but okay. If you don't need me for anything else..."

Palutena wanted to retreat from what was a situation that was a little embarrassing.

He understands her sentiments. It is quite awkward, but he doesn't regret pointing it out. After all, ambiguities could very well be turned against her in other situations - and that is something he wishes for her to avoid.

"You may leave, Palutena. I will see you hence."
