For all of the newcomers, welcome to Professor Xavier’s Institute of Higher Learning! For all of our returning students and staff, welcome back! Once Professor Xavier’s welcome speech wraps up, it’s time for everyone to get themselves situated in their dorms and, more importantly, get to know your fellow mutants! Even if you’re not sharing rooms, you’ll still be sharing the same campus with each other, so don’t be afraid to get used to all of those new faces! Or even catch up on old ones! You have options; don’t be afraid to use them.

Yes but there could be hidden snacks, like biscuits or scones or- jackpot, she emerges with a jar of biscotti as well as her caffeine. "I return triumphant," she chirps, clearly pleased with the world.

I'm gonna assume she got instant coffee or something...?

He chuckles a little at her words, noting the jar she is carrying. He had generally chosen not to take anything from the pantry except water (theoretically he didn't even need that, but it's another story), but watching his colleagues examine the wide variety of baked products had been a little entertaining.

"The water is quite hot, please be careful." He indicates the flask on the table. "I can help you with it, if you'd like."

She needs her caffeine fix asap so yes, instant! :)

"Would you?" she asks, smiling because no, she can handle a bit of hot water but she also doesn't mind the random helping hand here and there. She then spoons out the appropriate amount of espresso powder to appease her craving and holds the mug out to him.

"Alright then." Takakage nods and gives her a smile, gesturing vaguely with the baton held in his free hand. A globe of water rises from the flask and deposits itself into her cup - not too much as to spill over, not too little as to not seem full.

He flicks his wrist and the water starts to spin, dissolving the powder in a few seconds. Once done, he releases his mental lock and leans back into his chair again.

"There. All done."

"Merci beaucoup," she answers, happily inhaling the wafting steam above the mug. She then sits across from Takakage, crossing her legs and casually adjusting her skirt so the tops of her stockings are properly covered up before sipping the coffee. "Ah. Not as good as fresh pressed, but not quite so terrible as those concoctions Americans seem to favour in Starbucks."

He notes her effort to be decent. That wins you some points, Christelle.

"Indeed that is so." The young man chuckles slightly. "They often add in too many unnecessary embellishments, in my opinion. And their tea... well. It is often brewed a little too strongly, and it upsets the leaf's flavours." Granted, his hydrokinetic sense gave him a better grasp of how exactly the tea was diffusing, but as a connoisseur he feels obliged to comment on their shortcomings.

Or it could just be an American thing. He is too used to Japanese tea, after all.

There is a time and place for garters to be showing. Coffee in the lounge with a man who is Not Interested is neither or.

"They do not let the water cool slightly after 'aving reached boiling point, nor do they first warm the pot with hot water before brewing the tea," she sneers, nose wrinkling under her mask before she takes out a biscotti to nibble at. "Would you like one?"

He isn't quite sure how he can comment on Starbucks' etiquette, especially since she's already said it for him. So he just moves on and addresses her next statement instead.

"Thank you, but it's alright. I'm fine." He can't quite be sure that thing is vegetarian, so...

"Might I have your name?" It's occurred to him that he doesn't know, despite seeing her around here and there.

"Where are my manners, Christelle Desrosiers at your service," she answers, tipping a hat that isn't there above her scarf as she gives the young man a wink. "And you are monsieur Kobayakawa, ouis?"

"Yes." So he isn't all that unknown here, it seems. "I am Takakage Kobayakawa. A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Miss Christelle." His voice is even, but his Japanese accent becomes a little more apparent when he tries to pronounce her name. It comes close to how she says it, but not quite.

"You are from the Languages Department, I presume?"

He might be - Christelle just has a habit of making sure she knows exactly who's who to avoid surprises. "The pleasure is all mine and yes, I teach French and Spanish. 'ow are you finding the school so far?"

He nods slightly, closing his book. It seems that he isn't going to get back to it anytime soon.

"Being here is much of a blessing - not having to worry about our status. Professor Xavier and the other stuff have also been very understanding." He had even gone so far as to restore Takakage's medical licence - it's something the youth had sorely missed.

"Though I must say, the culture here is... ah, quite vigorous." A little too much for his liking, even.

"You've noticed," she sys drolly, smirking into her coffee. "At least the school is not directly in the city and we can 'ave some quiet."

Noting the book being shut, she adds, "Which I seem to be disturbing for you. Shall I leave you to your book?"

"Indeed so." He inclines his head, smiling faintly. Having too many people about also interfered with his senses, to a certain extent - too much aqueous tissue interference.

"Ah, it's alright." The youth sets it aside. "I am almost finished with it, in any case."

[seduceme]

"If you catch any students being a bit too 'vigorous' in any closets at least you can douse them with water to cool their 'eads," she says after a while of contemplating how he might fare with a whole bunch of teenagers with various powers running amok.

That manages to elicit a chuckle from him, though his gaze suddenly sharpens - for an instant, the gentle warmth of his grey eyes disappears, to be replaced by an acuity enough to pierce through steel.

And then the change is gone as soon as it appears. If Christelle hadn't been watching him closely, she wouldn't have caught it at all.

"Ah, I have quite anticipated that." He says this evenly, as if nothing had happened. "There will be no misconduct in my classes, that I can assure you."

He may be one of the calmest and most patient teachers, but that merely makes his displeasure all the more terrifying.

She wouldn't be much of a spy if she'd missed that, but she doesn't comment, simply taking it in and making note of it as she calmly sips her coffee. "I'm sure the students will obey you," she answers with a smile. "Though I fear I may 'ave to keep weapons out of reach in mine to make sure I don't accidentally shoot one of mine."

He inclines his head with a faint smile. "I believe it would be best for weapons to be in the class they belong, yes." It wasn't necessary for a language class, only for combat training.

Though that would mean that she is probably a serving X-Man. He had always kept out of that field due to past experience, but that is an exception, not the norm.

"How many classes are you expecting to take this year?"

[seduceme]

"Depends on the interest, I suppose," she shrugs, blowing some of the steam from her coffee. "I'm covering beginners and intermediates for French and all the students for Spanish, but not everyone is interested in learning a foreign tongue."

She then glances up at him and asks, "What about you? Sciences, ouis?"

Hm. Those are European languages. That would be explainable by her heritage, yes.

"Yes. I teach Biology for Grades Eleven and Twelve, and occasionally fill in for Chemistry." He aligns his fingertips together, lacing the baton between them. "Though I am intending to set up a Master Class for capable students." It's a practice he's seen in Singapore, where he used to teach.

"Capable and willing, I should imagine," she points out. "The two don't always go together."

[thirdarrow]

"Ah, yes. Of course." He covers up his lapse with a slow blink, barely pausing before replying. "That goes without saying."

Though it's a plan me nay not put into place if he doesn't find enough takers. About ten ought to be enough, actually. The optimum size of a class, as he has found through experience.

[seduceme]

"Per'aps some of the students will 'ave parents with 'igh expectations," she shrugs. Not that she personally knows much about that, but she's heard it's a thing that happens.

He gives her a slow, deliberate nod. "If the students do not want to pursue something, I will respect their wishes." He's had a lot of experience with demanding parents, especially in Singapore.

And he isn't going to prioritize the parents' wishes over that of the students.

"So generous," she murmurs into her coffee, though it's not clear whether she means it mockingly or genuinely.
