For all of the newcomers, welcome to Professor Xavier’s Institute of Higher Learning! For all of our returning students and staff, welcome back! Once Professor Xavier’s welcome speech wraps up, it’s time for everyone to get themselves situated in their dorms and, more importantly, get to know your fellow mutants! Even if you’re not sharing rooms, you’ll still be sharing the same campus with each other, so don’t be afraid to get used to all of those new faces! Or even catch up on old ones! You have options; don’t be afraid to use them.

Okay, well...

What parts of going here differ the most from normal school? I mean, aside from the people in it - like the classes and stuff?

[Feliks's first reaction to questions like that is you get beat up a lot less, but he guesses that's not most people's experience of normal school, and maybe also it's part of 'the people in it'?]

Well, it's a boarding school, so that's pretty different from most middle or high schools? I guess how that goes depends on what kind of roommate you get, but most of them are pretty cool!

For the classes... most of them are pretty much the same, except the extra ones. Like, combat and power control and stuff?

[Regular combat classes: still "less getting beat up than normal school" to Feliks.]

Oh! And there's like, the student X-teams, if that's a thing you wanna do.

[Tanaka lived somewhere nice enough he didn't get that beat up, even with the pink hair. Y'know, except the one time. That was. A lot worse than being beat up.]

That's true, there's not many like that. I hope my roommate's nice...

Oh wow, so there really are student hero teams and combat classes and stuff?

If they're not, you can probably whine someone into letting you change it. It's not like we don't have a ton of rooms open right now, right?

And yeah, definitely! Most people are in one combat class, at least. It's really good stuff to know!

I guess that's true... hopefully more people will be coming though.

Man, that really does make this sound like some kind of super-hero academy!

They'll come. I mean, we're here 'cause people kind of need us to be, right? More people are gonna find their way here, when they see we're doing ok.

...That is kind of our thing, isn't it?

Yeah, I guess that's one way to look at it. [Even if sounds kind of downer]

I guess so? I mean, I mostly came here for the "school where no one picks on mutants" part.

Well, that's defs a plus, too! And I guess like if you're not into the whole superheroing thing, it's not like anybody has to be on an X-team if they don't wanna.

It sounds cool... I just, I dunno... I don't think I'd cut it.

It's not all about butt-kicking, you know? Like, my best friend's specialty is pretty much "mad people skills", and my first team was all about getting information and activism!

Oh, I guess I hadn't thought about that... I guess I could try something like that...

Maybe you'll turn out to be super good at it or something!

Right! Like you could have games and donate the ticket money to some kind of good cause or whatever! Or like, donate something special for every home run or something!

Yeah, something like that! [And runs into the same damn stop he does every time] If they let me play in games, anyway...

Well, I mean... because I'm a mutant now. [Not that he feels like it, but it's a fact, right?]

Is it like, something you can't hold back on?

Honestly, I don't think it even matters for baseball. [Except it totally does; having an inexhaustible pitcher is pretty good] But I mean, I couldn't just lie about it, and I know a lot of people are already talking about whether mutants should be allowed to compete in professional sports...

Um, yeah we should, if it's not gonna affect the sport? People can get so hung up on the dumbest stuff, I totally swear.

I think so too, but at the same time I can understand why they'd be worried.

'Cause they're jerks who think people who aren't like them are always a threat?

Well I mean... even for us, we're not always fully aware of what we're capable of, right? [Koshi sure isn't exactly sure what the full extent of his powers are]
